LSU Students accuse Mike the Tiger of being 'symbol of white oppression'

This idiocy has hit national news now. Are they messing with the wrong school and mascot, or are they going to get their way? My LSU grad dh says 'no way in hell.' I know it's been discussed recently, but it's now been taken to a new level. And will having the current BR administration make any difference?

Yeah, I agree that this ridiculous. It's a damn Tiger. Who would associate that with oppression?
Even if the mascot is based on a Confederate regiment, no one makes that association any more. This is faux outrage, IMO.

We all know that Alleva made a colossal arse out of himself regarding the Duke lacrosse matter, and I've heard that F. King Alexander is so "progressive" that he would probably be more at home at Cal-Berkeley than LSU.
Here's what's really sad about this. 99.9% of people don't associate LSU's nickname "Tigers" with anything other than the animal itself. It's a damn shame when you actually have to tell these left-wing loons where the nickname originated from before they can fake outrage about it.
It's never enough with these idiots. When the Supreme Court paved the way for gay marriage, some of us here told the rest of you that this was only going to open Pandora's Box regarding other things. Sure enough, the twin issues of (1) transgender rights, and (2) The right to choose your sexual identity regarding public bathroom accommodations sprang up almost overnight.
Even FDR hated left-wing loons, only he referred to them as professional do-gooders. What they really are is good old-fashioned guilty white liberals who have an obsessive need to virtue-signal that they are different from the "racist" group from which they emanated.
My advice? LSU should tell these fools to go to Hell.

As I understand it, we have a person making a claim against LSU, which is spread all over social media and now, national mainstream media... and we LSU supporters do not have the right to face our accuser?
Seems fair.
This is why I hate what the media has become. And I used to work in news. They will print anything that anyone says. Even their IDENTITY is not a necessity anymore.
It used to be who, what, when, where, why, and how. Now it's who (optional), what (preferably opinion), when (but okay to recycle anything, anytime), when (NOW is always best, regardless of accuracy), why (especially if it's racism or sexism), and how (hopefully it happened via social media, so we don't have to leave the newsroom).
This story is about the media reporting on something that happened in the media (social media), about a phenomenon (SJW/racism) that is fueled by the media, causing a controversy in... the media. Pulitzer prize material here. Splash that shite on the front page of Foxnews.com!

Maybe they should ask themselves why they are going to a college that initially was a military school? That in itself is oppressive since only whites were admitted. Why do they want to go to a school founded on aggression and racism?
