When you say Port Allen, are you talking about the area south of the intracoastal or north of it? No transportation as in you will not have your own vehicle, but you could still use a taxi or uber?

If you don't have the option for suicide, just try swimming across the mississippi river to baton rouge.. It wouldn't be suicide, you would probably end up drowning before making it across.

Port Allen. Why no transportation? I guess I could use the walkway under the new bridge to go to downtown BR.

Port Barre. Jalepeno cheese bread, boudin...Bourque's has a hell of a selection on meat.

The locals aren't that bad that I couldn't tolerate a year. Plus, enough bayous close by that you could hunt and fish within walking distance (good bit of walking, but still).
