I'm 39 and my wife is 28. Been together 5 years
She def has a little resentment towards her family but nothing that would classify as "daddy issues"
She's smart and driven which I believe is what pushed her towards dating older men since guys her age were not on her level.

I have a friend whose boss is about to marry a girl 18 years younger than him, while his ex-wife (with whom he has children) has terminal cancer and only a few months left.
Imo, that's pretty shitty of the bride-to-be to not wait for that situation to run its course. I'd venture to guess she's a bit immature. Or just a POS.
