I think re-signing Jrue and using the 1st to upgrade Moore is the best option for the Pels.
I agree.
Go get a starting PG or SG to play with Jrue using the 2018 first, Moore and whatever. What about Zach Lavine? Crawford is your backup 2.
Use the MLE to get a good role player at the 1 or 3. Use the TPE and this years 2nd to get a young wing player a decent team is ready to give up on or doesn't play much. Justice Winslow isn't all that great, but i'll take him for free if Miami is giving up on him. I'm looking at guys like Oubre in Washington, Barton/Mudiay from Denver, Hood from Utah, Prince/Bembry from ATL, Seraphin or Glenn Robinson from Indy, Jarell Martin from Memphis, TJ Warren in Phoenix. Use the BAE to get a backup 4 or 5. Probably looking at keeping Ajinca/Asik.
If we aren't going to have a draft pick, and plan on getting rid of 2018's as well, i'd like to find a way to still get a young guy that someone else is giving up on, which is the idea behind the TPE and 2nd for a young wing. James Young in Boston would be a nice pickup on a cheap contract as a UFA. he may be not much of anything, or he could turn into Kent Bazemore.

also don't like the idea of giving up Jrue and 1st for Linn and Reddick.
I'm not for this trade or anything, but the biggest part of the trade seems to be dumping Asik's contract. If you could turn that into a good FA, then it might make it worth it. If it free'd up enough for Otto Porter, than it's a good deal. Someone like ATL would have to say if that is actually what it does contract wise though.
Lin/Reddick/Porter for Jrue/1st?
Lin
Reddick
Porter

His life is so depressing

Lin/Reddick/Porter for Jrue/1st?
None of that works. Dumping Asik doesn't free up any real money when you are bringing on Lin and Reddick. $17M caphold for Jrue and $11M salary for Asik is eaten up by the $15-17M for Reddick and $12M for Lin. We would not have room to sign Porter.
If you are hell bent on getting rid of Asik, then you re-sign Jrue and use the 1st to convert Asik into a helpful player, though I think you would get a much better player and better overall outcome using Moore.

In this case that good FA would be Redick.

Unless you really overpay Redick, you probably have to end up eating Jamal Crawford's contract to make salaries match. It is roughly the same as Asik's but a year shorter. Trading Asik doesn't really free up cap space here.
The main benefit of this multi-team deal is the Clippers picks which let you keep Moore while turning Holiday into Bledsoe and Redick. Holiday's price obviously plays a role, but as Teddy/NoFox said keeping Holiday and turning Moore + Fraizer + 1st into someone like Bledsoe is probably a better solution.

That's what I wasn't sure of number wise.

That's one of the few plausible trades I have read.
It's a positive sum trade all around but like most trades is not gonna be perfect.
I think it would absolutely be a better team then we could pull off by just playing FA and trying to sign Jrue. With the understated benefit of featuring contracts that all should be very moveable and I think(??) would allow us to still sign a player in FA? Maybe a Joe Ingles and Collison? Or at least one of them.

This is definitely the best case scenario for y'all. Maybe somehow you guys can flip Hill, but no one will bite with that contract

I don't get the desire to give up firsts for Lin given his contract status.
its not. the deal is Jrue Holliday is traded and those two come back.
no one is giving up a first for those guys. Reddick can still shoot. Lin has his days.
Not really a great deal, but maybe its ok compared to just losing Jrue.

Pretty sure the proposal has us sending out 2018 1st.

In semi-sort of related news...Melo and his wife are separated. Guess he can move out of NYC now.

Re losing holiday
the knicks are in flux. They appear to be moving on from Carmelo (if they can find a trade partner) and porzingis is not happy. rose is a UFA and they'd be crazy that bring him back. if they renounce rose and move Anthony (and get some lottery luck) they'll have tons of cap space and roster spots
couple that with his brother being there and I think jrue holiday will be a knick next year regardless. may as well explore the options and helping to moving Anthony could pay dividends

Justin Holiday is a free agent, so he isn't really "there".
Posted on 4/17/17 at 9:29 pm to Epic Cajun
Yeah why couldn't the Pelicans just sign him if they really wanted too? I don't see how Justin Holiday means anything as he isn't going to get a huge contract.

Jeremy Lin? Or is there someone else with the same last name?
I would consider Lin MAJOR downgrade from Holiday.
He's serviceable I suppose, but I could only go for that if the money we saved by not signing Jrue and getting Lin would create space for a legit, young B++/A- guard (if Holiday is a B+).

The person who speculated that he feels that Jrue might be gone is Jake Madison from BSS.
On todays locked on pelicans he is expected to share his thoughts.
It was his kinda interpretation after press conference. Not an insider info.
Jake is doing great job but he has not have anyone within Pels organization.

I don't like it'
I'd rather overpay jrue. Seems like the end of the year he was much more confident on that leg. With him ending on a high note health wise and off-season with that front court, I feel he is going to be back to his Allstate days..... I'm not near and down on him as many

I will say that they have gone noticeably overboard in saying how important Jrue is to the team. They talk him up as much as they talk up Mr. Benson, which is a lot and way more than should be necessary.
ETA: Just listened to Jake's podcast and I'd say he's reaching. He thinks Holiday is gone based on 2 things.
1) The Pels aren't willing to throw a max at Holiday initially and rather are willing to "let the process play out".
2) Jake's own personal conclusion is that Holiday WANTS to be the PG and the Pels see him in a more off ball role.
Regarding #1, just because the Pels want Holiday to prove he can get a Max deal doesn't mean they won't match it. I hope they don't go as high as $30 million, but the only thing they really said was they're going to let the market set his price.
As for what Holiday WANTS, the biggest knock on him is his lack of want and being too passive. He also played some of his best ball of the season pre ASB after he stopped worrying about "running the offense" and just focused on "running sets". I think we have no clue what Holiday actually wants and Jake is just projecting what he thinks most pro athletes would want. Holiday is clearly not most pro athletes and has different priorities.
In the end I think it all will come down to money. If Holiday gets offered more than the Pels are willing to pay then Demps will have once again misjudged the market and watch a player walk that he could have gotten at least a 1st round pick for.
