Interesting Melo trade idea with Pels as facilitators

Complicated multi team sign & trade centered around Jrue to NYK, Melo to Clips, Asik and picks to Nets, Lin and Reddick to Pels. Thoughts?
One pick from us and 1-2 from Clips. Pels would still have MLE to go get another wing player after that
If Holiday is leaving or getting offered too much to match, this seems like as good of an option as any.
Lin/Crawford/Frazier
Redick/Moore
Hill/MLE
AD/Cunningham
Cousins/Diallo/Ajinca
If Hill can improve on his 35% from 3 this season, or you get an MLE wing that's better, all of a sudden you have a decent amount of scoring and shooting creating space for AD/DC.

Sign me up for Mr Crewz' Wild Ride. 2 high IQ backcourt players. I'm not sure I like having only Lin as our only PG so better address that. Man, for making fun of other people's unrealistic shite this is some pretty fancy 2k17 crap here.

What contract are we giving Reddick? What contract are we going to give Lin next summer? Seems like a team with a very limited window to go all in on with two aging players set to take up a big chunk of the cap by next season.
I don't get the desire to give up firsts for Lin given his contract status.

no thanks.
i'm not giving up Jrue and a pick for a year of Lin and a new bloated contract for an aging no defense shooter in Reddick.
I'd rather Jrue walk and operate under the cap than this trade.

Well you are also dumping Asik without having to stretch him, which drastically increases the value on our end.
I would definitely consider it.

Think about it. You're dumping an absolute albatross salary that many consider un-dumpable, you're moving a guy who, in this scenario, clearly doesn't want to be here...for two guys that are kind of ideal to play with AD/DC. The contract situations for them kind of sucks but its not terrible.
Something to think about.

I wonder if you could swap out Brooklyn for Phoenix. If they draft a 19 year old PG to put next to 20 year old Booker and their 2 19 year old bigs, they should plan to be a non playoff team for at least the next 2-4 years.
Instead of Lin and Redick, Bledsoe and Redick.
Asik/Pondexter and all the picks in the bigger deal for Bledsoe. Then essentially a 3 way S&T of Holiday/Melo/Redick. Although you may need to add some filler or even dump Ajinca and operate under the cap because I would think Redick is getting paid less than Melo/Holiday in this scenario.

obviously a more ideal scenario, but tougher.
Also its all academic because complex fantasies like this rarely ever come close to fruition.

Hmmmm...It's interesting because you dump Asik. Depending on how this affected cap space going forward, I could get behind this trade.

well of course I like dumping Asik, but i'm not giving up a pick, one which it sounds like we are trying to use to get another player at some point before next seasons trade deadline, to get Lin for a year and a new Reddick contract, and we don't get to keep Jrue.
I would love to get Reddick, but i'd like to know what his contract will be b/c i'm assuming it would be in the $15M range, which is too much for him.
If the Clippers are getting Melo, then wouldnt' they have to send out at least 75% of Melo's contract, since they are over the cap? Melo's salary will be something like $27M next year b/c of his trade kicker. They would have to send out over $20M, so is Reddick signing for $20M or they throwing someone else out there?
I'm not wanting 30 year old role players making $10+M a year as our moves this offseason.
If we are getting a high priced 30 year old, he better be a difference maker as a starter, and be the wing player that will end the game with the ball in his hands deciding whether or not to take the shot or give it to AD or Cousins.

If Holiday wants to leave maybe this is the best that can be done right away. Kind of scary if true.
I would like Reddick on the team next to Holiday and Hill on the perimeter; however, it would a huge downgrade to ship out a young player and pick for the proposed trade return.

Yeah, we might have to eat Crawford in the 3 way. Although he'd have 2 years left, his last year is only partially guaranteed. He'd basically be an expiring and might even have some future trade value if his unguaranteed last year is grandfathered in.

It's not super common to have a sign and trade for a UFA, this deal requires two of those types of deals. I don't think I'm feeling the love for Lin.

ATL, there is more chatter on the board about Jrue wanting out...is there any solid intel on this?
So damn frustrating to loose players without compensation...see Ryno...

The only "legit" thing I've seen is a poster on PR saying he's heard from insiders that they see some signs he may want out. I put legit in quotes because I don't think he was lying or attention whoring, but the details were so vague they could fit anything from a naturally pessimistic insider seeing what he wants to see to Holiday being coached by his agent to act in a way that makes the team think he could be leaving and up it's initial offer.
Demps putting a high initial offer on the table is important to Holiday's agent. If Demps says "go shop around and let me know what you get", Holiday's agent has to actually get offers from teams asking for their best offer, which they'd possibly lowball. But if Holiday's agent can say "NOLA is offering $22 million, can you beat it?" they probably get better offers which they can then take back to the Pels and try and get even more.

Right. A trade like this has way too many moving parts to ever become a reality. It's the same as the trade he rpoposed to get Lopez at the deadline and then Batum. There were too manymoving pieces.
In this scenario, Jrue would have to agree to go to NYK and then agree on a contract. Reddick would have to agree to come here and the only way that is happening is if the $$$$ is wayyy over anyone else. Neither of those players' agents are going to completely forego free agency unless the deals are way over market, so we have to wait for them to explore too. Also the Clippers would have to send out more salary unless they aren't resigning Blake
The trade is unrealistic. McNamara just really wants Lin and since his Lin for 1st trade makes no sense once you actually break it down and think about it, he is now trying to figure out another way to get him here.
I also don't like the idea of giving up Jrue and 1st for Linn and Reddick. I think re-signing Jrue and using the 1st to upgrade Moore is the best option for the Pels.

I think some of that is probably parsing Demps' statements at the end of season presser. It sounded like the Pels have a contract in mind and are going to give him a number to take it or leave it based on the "Jrue will have a tough decision" comment.
