Upscale bbq?
It exists. This is a photo of 18th and Vine in Dallas
It's definitely not your meat served on a paper tray type of restaurant.

No doubt they exist, just saying that's probably not the best way to go with a BBQ joint

Agreed. BBQ should always be a casual outing, even though it's fairly pricey.

They don't have a brick and mortar location, though, correct?

What in the hell is upscale bbq? Is that actually a thing?

You're not kidding. I drive to Wayne's in Livingston when I want BBQ.

Well, BRQ opened today. Anyone try it?

Just did. Didn't eat too much, split it all with the wife trying not to go too wild.
The space is beautiful and inviting.
They serve homemade chips and pickles for you when you sit down. The chips are kinda meh, but the pickles were awesome. Slightly sweet, fresh, just the right amount of sour and dill. We plowed through two bowls
Started with fried green tomatoes. They are heavily breaded and I think had panko mixed in.. but not overwhelmingly so and the breading is very crunchy and well seasoned. The habanero dill ranch is amazing, although I did not find it spicy at all, I could bathe in it.
Had the slider trio and got all of the BBQ sauces to try. The sliders were void of any sauce or vegetables, but perfect for dipping into sauces. The pretzel buns were great.
The standard sweet sauce was very thin and not my cup of tea. Don't really like sweet BBQ sauce. The Carolina mustard sauce was hands down the best. Tangy mustard with a bit of sweetness. I think I tasted worcestershire and molasses, but maybe brown sugar. Anyway, I could douse an old leather shoe in it and it's still be amazing. The vinegar sauce was okay.. too vinegary for me, overpowered the flavor of the food. The hot BBQ sauce was very very sweet but had the thickness that was absent from the original sweet sauce and had a nice spicy kick from red pepper flakes.
We also had the smoked wings, in what was supposed to be the spicy Cajun sauce... But I'm not sure it was the right sauce. Was not spicy at all and sweet like regular BBQ sauce. The wings were very smokey and tender, very good. I would change the sauce next time. Also, 10 bucks for 5 drumettes is a little steep.
All in all, the food we had was very good and we will definitely be back.. next time I'd like to try the actual BBQ plate(s) to get some real BBQ. It might be a smidge overpriced but not enough so to deter me from going... Especially since it's very close to my house.

It about due for a Podnuhs to burn down ain't it? They run a pretty decent scheme there.

Yes, an excellent review. You should start a review thread of BRQ. It will get lost in this one.
