Baton Rouge and Hammond and Northshore are not happening people.
Look at Biloxi, Mobile, Pensacola,Shreveport, Bossier, Laffy.
Agreed. I'd like to see Bossier personally. Would get to go to games when I visit my sister in Shreveport.

Looking at that map I'm thinking they need to go north. This is from 2014 but I'm sure it still applies.

Because the D-League doesn’t consider competitive balance as the primary focus, cost considerations take on a bigger role. And one of the largest such considerations regards what the NBA can so casually eschew: travel costs. Any potential talk of new D-League teams has to start here. Therefore, any new D-League teams should emerge in cities that are both close to preexisting NBADL organizations and near their NBA affiliate. Keeping every entity geographically close together is the goal of this project, because traveling by bus is more cost-efficient than chartering an airplane

Jackson, Hattiesburg, Shreveport, Monroe, Bossier if they go North

If it's laffy I'll be so pumped

Bossier would make some sense. The CenturyTel Center is good enough for a D-League team.

Shreveport/Bossier makes more sense due to proximity to other teams.

It's going to be the Mobile Boogies FYI

The map could look a little different when the other 8 teams get added. In fact the league might want to try and coordinate things to make a sensible southeast region. If the teams travel by bus then they want to hit a bunch of venues in a row on a road trip. In that case putting the Pels on the Gulf Coast would make sense.

My money is on biloxi at the biloxi coliseum. They seem to draw pretty well for the minor league baseball team over here.

Shreveport/Bossier had an arena football team about 15 years ago called the Battlewings (named because of nearby Barksdale AFB)
Name could easily transition well with Pelicans if they choose to go there and choose to bring that name back

The Cut Off Youth Center should have enough folding chairs in the back to accommodate the crowd.

Would be awful.

Mobile... it opens up your ability to have the gulf coast and it makes more sense if you're trying to expand your reach.

Now we will be able to see Diallo play!

finally!
at minimum it helps them keep young cheap players in the deep end of the pool
I hope they name it something ridiculous

I would imagine the 11 communities would be:
Baton Rouge
Houma-Thibodaux
Lafayette
Lake Charles
Shreveport
Bossier
Monroe
Jackson
Biloxi-Gulfport
Pensacola (or maybe Jacksonville)
Mobile
All have suitable population, proximity, arena situations that would make sense for the Pels and the DLeague.
My hope for the D-League is that once every team has their own affiliate that they will institute a MLB type model. That is:
1.) NBA draft is expanded to 7 rounds to stock the D League teams
2.) Every player is draftable out of high school
3.) 1st round picks have guaranteed contracts like today. They are slotted in for salary and their drafting teams will have them at the same rules as today.
4.) 2-7 round draft picks will be able to either sign with their teams or go to college. These players will not be draft eligible again for 2 or 3 years.
5) If they sign, their contracts will not be guaranteed and they will only get paid their NBA salary slots if they are with the big club, much like MLB. They will be paid an D-League salary when sent down.
6.) The 2nd or 3rd year players (we'll call it 3, like it is in baseball) will be eligible for the draft again at the end of their 3rd year. The same rules above would apply. They would be able to sign w/ their team, go back to college, or be locked in as a first round pick
7.) Draft and Stash international players would have their rights controlled by the drafting team no matter the round. If they don't sign by their 3rd year, they can re-enter the draft, unless they are a first round pick. In that case they keep those rights until the player signs.
College Basketball: Saved! If you are a high school kid you are in the draft without the threat of burning your eligibility. You don't get drafted in round 1, you have the opportunity to go back to college. Imagine a guy like O'Bryant, Mickey, Big Baby coming out after year 2, getting picked in the 2nd round, and deciding it would be best to go back to school. Better college basketball. If you're Jarrell Martin and you're a 1st round pick, that's great - you have a guaranteed contract for 4 years. If you're a first round pick, you're still making your NBA money even if you are down in the D League. Kids who won't make it in the NBA will get some free education along the way, and will have multiple other opportunities to get there. NBA vets love it because it opens roster spots if these rookies are in the D League developing instead of taking their jobs. Just wins all around. I don't see the negatives.

That is a great idea. I hate the one and done situation in college basketball.

I also like the idea of an IR designation for a player out for the season like in the NFL as well as 15 and 60 day DL to account for call ups from your D League squad

Doubt it will go to North Louisiana, those Homo's are Dallas fans
I'm guessing mobile Biloxi or Pensacola. Expand outside of Louisiana
