Is there anywhere in Baton Rouge where one can safety dispose of unused/expired medications?

if narcotics, I make a weekly trip to the disposal site downtown. If you'd like I can meet you somewhere and take them off your hands.

Dissolve them in water, then dispose of the solution in the trash can. Or burn them in a fire. You could pay a fee for disposal and they will do the same thing.

Please do not dump them into the water supply.

this is what i tell EVERY patient that asks this same question:
1.) take the label off the bottle
2) take a wet paper towel
3.) put meds in said wet paper towel
4.) place wadded up med/paper towel in middle of trash bin
5.) dispose personal health info securely

Right after my grandfather passed at home from cancer, the hospice nurses dumped all of his heavy pain meds down the toilet. Like the second he passed. Seems like standard practice.

Bring them back to the pharmacy, they have medical waste bins and can log it if needed

ETA: flushing it adds it to the water supply

Harris county does this at least twice a year at multiple locations. Put them in a box and drop them off.
