Should the legal drinking age be 18?

The government has deemed this group responsible enough to cast a vote and adult enough to die for their country in the armed forces, but they can't legally buy and drink a beer. I know it's not a new argument, but what are your thoughts?

They shouldn't be able to vote either

I'm over 21 so I don't care at this point.

Yes.
They can vote and go to war. Their rights are being infringed.

18 year olds in the military are usually window licking crayon eaters.
ETA: From a military standpoint
Absolutely not. We would have DWIs constantly.

Yes.. Kids do it regardless so why even bother other than all major cities (especially college towns) need the MIP revenue to pay for their shite

Yes. They're treated like second class citizens. Plus increased age limit leads to binge drinking.

You don't think people under 21 drink?
They drink a lot and do plenty of drunk driving.

Saw a "16 year olds should be able to vote" thing today. To "strengthen the youth voice". Can you imagine.

It's like the equivalent of banning guns. They aren't stopping anyone under 21 from drinking.

I agree. When I joined the military at 19, the LA drinking age was 18. After legally drinking for a year, I was suddenly too young to drink.

I wouldn't mind it if they could buy liquor from stores for consumption at 18. But bars continue to be 21 to drink in public. I wouldn't like it to be law, just a business practice.

People under 21 in the military? NO! The marines and sailors on this base are constantly breathalyzed upon returning to their barracks.

They should be children until 21.

If they're responsible enough to be killed for their country, they're responsible enough to drink in this country and enjoy the so-called "Land of the Free".
