I love this movie. Great cinematography, great acting, and a crazy story. Sure, there were a lot of things in the movie that didn't happen in the real story, like Michael Douglas's great white hunter character, but I enjoyed his role in the movie. The Lions were well done in my opinion. Good nineties style score too.
But Roger Ebert gave it a 0.5/4 - which kind of blows my mind. What does the movie/TV board think of this flick?

It's one of the movies that is not in my Top 20 list... But it is one that I will stop channel surfing and watch everytime I come across it.

I remember watching this with my parents and loved it then. Watched it the other day and still loved it, even though my wife wasn't as impressed lol

This, like National Treasure, is firmly entrenched on the " Oh it's on , guess I'll watch it " list I have .

The first time i watched i was like 12. I hated taking the garbage out at night for like the next month. I'd run it out there and run back in as fast as i could. Never knew what was in the woods around the LP parts.

google "roger ebert's worst reviews." the guy was incredibly overrated.

It's a B-movie with big name actors (at the time) - which doesn't mean it's not a fun and very entertaining movie - it is...but it's a more polished B-flick - like a Saturday matinee from the 50's.

That's a fair assessment.

So I was like 8 when this movie came out, and I thought it was awesome then. Scary with great tension and just very exciting. I tried watching it again the last year or two, and I don't think that it has held up. Still OK I guess, but the anthropomorphising of the lions and how it was done came across as a little cheesy to me.
