Hmmm... would think Pats would need to add a pick.

Shitty thread title that implies it's a done deal.

Butler is an RFA, so we'd have to work out a new contract for him. That was supposedly a big reason that we were considering moving Cooks. Butler would be a big get, but I think Cooks has more value considering that, even with a 2019 franchise tag, he's essentially on a 3yr/$24m type deal. Butler is going to be making $11m+.

Butler and their first seems like something Belichick would never agree to.

Butler's good but far from a lock down corner. NE would have to include a high draft pick in this deal or Loomis needs to be run out of town

So the Pats signed another corner and are paying him top dollar but didn't want to pay top dollar to this guy who's been on their team for years...hmmm

I don't think I'd ever trade for a Pats player. If they are getting rid of a player, there is a reason behind it.

Cooks for Butler, #32, and a pick next year would be a slam dunk for the Saints.

An impact defensive player and a pick this year to address numerous needs. And all for a receiver who frankly doesn't want to be here and also has been passed up as best receiver on the team.

It should tell you all you need to know if Patriots are okay with offloading this guy because they know he'll be overpaid and just another Bill boy who he got the most out of. A complete system DB meaning he will suck for us. They can give us him and a 1st with us not compensating them with anything else or frick off. I don't like Butler at all. He'll be another overpaid FA bust for the Saints. Calling it right now.

Fwiw, here are the Patriot's draft picks this year, by round:

NEW ENGLAND

1. 32
2. 64
3. 96, 103
4. no pick
5. 163, 183
6. 200
7. 239

Malcom Butler was an undrafted FA in 2014. I know he has played well, but I don't trust any defensive FA coming out of New England. They all look good there. A former first rounder like Cooks is much more likely to be a success for New England than Malcolm Butler is to be a success for the Saints. I need that 32 pick if I'm gonna make this deal.

They stupid if they do it. New England will get the better of it, Cooks is a solid player and their deep field threat, Butler is a system CB. What the Saints need to do is draft Tredavious White is what they need to do and stop trying to fix their CB problem through free agency or trade.
