Big Name Coach + Low Money Offer + Psycho AD = We're getting Rick Stansberry if we're lucky (and some big name coach somewhere is getting a pay raise)

What are you smoking? Marshall is only leaving Wichita for a blue chip program or maybe even not at all.

Sources told ESPN that LSU intends to pursue some “big names.”

I intend to win the lottery one day, too.

But what I'll actually do is a totally different story.

Marshall almost makes as much as O and our fans would get pissy if the basketball coach made more than the football coach.

Wichita State is the Koch Brothers.

We couldn't match what they'll pay to keep Marshall if we could even conceive doing so for a basketball coach.

The time to get Marshall would have been when he was at Winthrop years and years ago.

LSU football could have landed any number of big names and settled for hiring Ed Orgeron.

Who are those big names? What makes you think this?

Here are coaching hires in the last 20 years at elite football schools:

Jim McIlwain at Florida
Tom Herman at Texas
Kirby Smart at Georgia
Derek Dooley at Tennessee
Butch Jonea at Tennessee
Steve Sarkisian at USC
Les Miles at LSU
Mike Price at Alabama
Bo Pelini at Nebraska
Gene Chizik at Auburn
Gus Malzahm at Auburn

All were ballyhooed coordinators or short term successes at mid majors. So who would LSU have gotten with a glittering resume after Jimbo turned them down.

So that's all coaching hires the last 20 years at elite football schools?

I can think of a few you left off, but they are successful, so it would defeat the purpose of your list. Although, you did put Miles who was successful.

this narrative is patently false yet it keeps popping up. it really shows how little you know about hiring football coaches. there is ZERO evidence to support your claim. ZERO.

Dave Bliss. We're aiming high and shooting to hit the bullseye of the target. No lie and I'm not on drugs. We've got to go down into the quarry and dig up some grit and gravel for this program.

Yea, totally. I mean, it's not like he's done anything to deserve it.
