Disagree. He's had the best vision of any back I've seen in quite a while. If the hole isn't there, he finds an opening somewhere. I don't think I've ever seen him just run into the back of a pile because that's where the gap was supposed to be.

quote:

Weaknesses Doesn't make many defenders miss with open field shake. Aggressive, take-on style could lead to shortened career. Struggles to elude sudden traffic at line of scrimmage. Lacks looseness of hips to jump-cut from gap to gap. Struggled with a bad ankle for most of the season. Plays through a straw. Excitable runner in need of more patience. Too quick to hit the accelerator and slam into defenders when there are still cuts and yards left in the play. Runs to obvious daylight but needs to learn to anticipate and finesse the crease in traffic. Doesn't see cutback lanes developing as outside zone runner and prefers to keep runs play-side. Throws half-hearted, grazing shoulder as chip blocker. Pass protection and routes need extensive work.

NFL Scouts seem to disagree with you. Ive never heard anyone say that Fournette actually has good vision, much less the best they've seen in a while.

SCOUTING REPORT #1
quote:

Strengths:
Explosive
Elusive; has moves in the open field to dodge blockers
Fast; can break off long touchdown runs
Threat to score on any carry
Rare acceleration
Tough, physical runner
Power back who can run over defenders
Excellent vision
Great feet
Cutting ability
Can return kicks
Ideal build and size
Gets lots of yards after contact
Finishes runs well
Ideal build and size
Burst to the hole

SCOUTING REPORT #2
quote:

Fournette is at his best when he’s able to get north and south quickly and pick up a full head of steam. If he’s forced to change plans in the backfield, his footwork can get sloppy and he can lose momentum. He can still make plays happen when forced to improvise,

Scouting report # 3
quote:

Fournette is also a decisive back because of his vision, which allows him to work almost entirely north and south as a runner. He's not a jump cutter, choosing instead to slide cut or make often subtle changes of direction to find the open field, at which point he can pull away from defenders because of his strong top-end speed.

If youve never seen a scouting report say LF has good vision then youve never looked at more than the one you posted.
And for the record, every rb in the history of football misses cyt back lanes.

With Fournette is about patience in my opinion, and nothing to do with vision. The two aren't interchangeable; they aren't synonymous.

That was my only gripe ever at LSU: patience young skywalker.

This man's ceiling is as high as he wishes to go. Every GM knows it too. If he continues to work on his game and his physical skills you can't teach, he will be just fine.

Please link 1 reputable scout saying his vision isnt a strength

PFF

quote:

Sometimes on zone runes, Fournette doesn’t press long enough, and can be too quick to cut back when the intended point of attack actually does open up. when he was provided with clear paths this past year, he still rattled off long runs. But when his blocking and reads were murkier this past season, he was at times indecisive and quick to abandon the intended point of attack, and not nearly as effective at making defenders miss.

CBS Dane Brugler

quote:

WEAKNESSES: Inconsistent decision-making at times behind the line of scrimmage, allowing defenders to reset and get a read on him. Most of his impressive runs on tape came from large holes created by his blockers with not enough examples of him creating on his own vs. the first wave of the defense.

Lance Zierlein

quote:

Fournette's power and speed are more than enough to help create high-end yardage totals for himself, but he can still improve with better vision and footwork when wading through the murk between the tackles.

Jones-Drew is a hater and that's all there is to it. They're a lot of people out there that think Ezekiel Elliot is a much better back, but they'll find out otherwise once LF starts his assault on the NFL.

He needs to be a lot more patient on waiting for his blockers to do their thing and open holes for him to run through, I've said that in the past, but once he learns that it will be look out downfield. That's his only flaw to me, he has good vision and can find holes, but he just gets a lil to impatient in wanting to find a hole and get down the field and going and so he winds up looking like he does against Alabama all the time, and that is lost.

but no way in this world is he Trent Richardson, that idiot sportswriter saying he ran through large holes at LSU is on dope, LSU didn't open up Alabama type holes for him to run through. lol

vision and patience go hand in hand. His vision isnt bad, but its not great either. Its one of the few questions about him

There were several opportunities in the Alabama game this year for Fournette to cut back into a hole, and instead he just ran forward and did nothing.

The same Alabama team with a projected 7 defensive picks the first 3 rounds including a possible 4 to five the 1st?

Please.

What is he(Jones - Drew) talking about? aside from his Alabama performances, his vision was not bad at all. On the few times they put him out to catch the ball, he caught it whether it was a screen out of the backfield or from a receiver position catching downfield.

Recently, good running backs could be selected in later rounds so the overall value of rbs is down league wise. My biggest knock on LF is his inability to run east-west. He's all down hill so teams will be able to contain him more in the NFL because of the players size and speed.

The issues he brings up are real issues. Many would say that Guice has better vision and will translate to the next level.

Yeah but it's really only become a talking point after Mc pointed out the missed run against bama. It may be a knock but people are overrating the shite out of it because of it
