I'm not disputing any of that. But it's two lanes with no neutral ground and in that photo, it appears there are homes on the road, or at least yards that come up to it. 55 seems high BASED ON THE PHOTO

I don't think the speed limit is 55 mph. But you are correct that there are homes and yards on both sides of the road.

I believe it's 45 in that area. It's a hwy lined with some houses and neighborhoods. I mean, we're in louisiana.

It's 45, and an area that kids cross to walk to the high school every day. There are sidewalks. No designated cross walks. The kid had earbuds in.

Truth. I'm sure the 9 year old in the truck will be affected as well.

You said the kid "probably had on Beats headphones" and you want people to accept that as fact. I'd be happy to upvote your post - Source?

no im being a dick because people are arguing over semantics when a young kid lost his life.

then immediately people blame a man who has to live with this the rest of his life.

Just for the record, I never blamed the driver. I expressed that people need to be vigilant when driving around schoolkids. It's a sad story all around.

I read on another source he was trying to cross the road. Not sure really who is in the wrong here. The truck was old and beat up though. I'm sure the driver was an outstanding memeber to society that was on his way to another post flood demo job.

And what the hell is wrong with driving a beat up old truck?

From what has been released so far it looks like a terrible accident. Very sad.

My understanding is that it happened in front of a school bus heading to the Jr High, as well.

I can't come close to understanding the pain his family feels right now. There is no worse tragedy. They are in my prayers.
