There are lots of them that come to mind. I'll start us off with two from one of my favorite bands, Electric Light Orchestra. These are both from their earlier works. They actually have quite a few instrumentals, but these two are my favorites by them.

From their first album, which had three instrumentals, this one was written by co-founder Roy Wood. It appears to be influenced by Classical Gas, but has its own distinct melody. This was the only ELO album that Wood performed on.

First Movement

Fire on High is the first song on the fifth studio album. It starts off as a strange mix of strings, choir, and a bit of back masking. In case you are curious, if you play it backwards it says "the music is reversible but time is not, turn back, turn back, turn back". A little creepy beginning but suddenly changes to a great tune with incredible drumming mixed with symphony and choral arrangements.

Most of my picks have already been posted, so I'll just add one.

Oscillating Wildly - The Smiths

And I assume we're talking in pop or rock music. I could listen tons of jazz greats, but I'll just list my favorite jazz song.

A Few Of My Favorite Things - John Coltrane
