We didn't ask these tatted-up frickheads with blue hair to come here, and frankly I wish they would leave. They're fricking everywhere.
I just moved back and notice a more leftist vibe. I find it weird.

A 4 page thread on snowflakes in NO and the post with the most up votes is one that says the statues are the problem and need to go.

I also live in a New Orleans and couldn't agree more. I was in jury duty last year and shocked by the jury of my "peers". If those are my peers I would never leave my life up to them I can promise you that.
You just ain't whistling Dixie.

Some of yall need to let all the political bullshite stop blinding yall. This is still America, people can show support for whatever ideology they want.. They tax dollars they generate are just as good as anyone else's.
While I don't disagree that you can have whatever ideology you want, hipster liberals that come here and blindly vote democratic will allow the vicious cycle of runaway crime to continue. As long as we have democratic mayors that's continue to cater strictly to the African American community for their votes and push racial agendas, the city will not improve. You'd think people would notice by now that cities with several generations of Democratic mayor's typically have crime problems.

Not to sound like a pussy, but it used to be a lot more accepting of every type of person. Now, you're either one way, or you're an a-hole. I don't mind being an a-hole

New Orleans will never vote Republican
Also, there are dozens of booming cities that are ran by Dems. Problems in New Orleans run much deeper than party affiliation.

This isn't unique to New Orleans. It is happening to cities all over the South.
Charleston, SC is an example to comes to mind.

To be fair, this has been going on since at least the early 60s in New Orleans

Everyone but you knows exactly why we are 50th in everything and it is not due to a lack of hipsters.

The fact that you are white makes you even more of an idiot for living there. Unless, you're rich and still that would be stupid to live there.
Just CCW everywhere you go and hope for the best.
Jesus what a pussy. I've lived here my entire life minus the 3-1/2 years in BR at LSU. Then lived in a downtown apt while in med school. I've never felt unsafe but I also never put myself in stupid situations. I've never been robbed or stabbed or shot at or whatever Wild West shite you think goes on here. This city has a major crime problem but it's certainly not against the white professionals here. You have no fricking clue what you're talking about.

I've spent a lot of time in the worst parts of the city, and only been truly uneasy a handful of times. There are only three areas I don't like going, and one is in the east and the other on the wank. As a whole, inside the city proper isn't some big scary shoot em up place.
I think crimes against persons have a lot to do with how the victim carries himself or the situation he puts himself in.
I do wish the gentrifiers and hipsters would get a lesson in life much more often
