nearly all the people i know scorn war as a political tool.

You can't just look at which states get how much and then look at if the state is "overall" red or blue and then conclude that red people get more welfare or blue people pay more taxes. What matters is WHO in which state gets the money.
It's also a dumb talking point because states don't stay red or blue permanently. Lousiana and Kentucky and WV were solid blue during the clinton years, and states like Virgina, CO, and even calfornia were red not too long ago.
States that are heavily agricultural with not as much industry are more likely to get more money per capita because we have far more programs geared towards farmer security than the security of, say, tech companies or the service economy. this is antiquated of course.

That's why I'm watching this thing with Obamacare. This is a monstrosity that must be repealed. Less than 15% of the population are really benefiting from ACA. If you are paying 33% of your salary in taxes you need a new accountant. My wife and I are in the top 6% of household incomes in the United States according to the IRS and our total tax bill from all sources is about 18%. You need to save more for retirement or something if you are paying 33%....

For all practical purposes we are already in the midst of a civil war. You need only see what is going on among left extremist to confirm. And again, the only feasible solution I see is a formal and hopefully peaceful geopolitical division.
