He should resign, then Alleva follow him out of the door.

There was no reason to keep him after last season. Seriously. Did anyone really think somehow he had a chance to turn things around this season? Aleva is an idiot if he thought that and if he didn't why did he waste this season?

Rumors are starting that if he loses the next 5 it'll make a 10 game streak and he could be fired once that happens. I think it's too late but that's what was reported on the radio tnite.

So this is where that rumor started with your post?

Makes no difference if they fire JJ yesterday, today or 2 years from now unless they are prepared to hire a competent replacement.

However, This season is lost. Firing him now sends a message that the university does in fact give a shite about it's basketball program, and sends the message that they will not accept this level of play. Now does that get you any more wins, who cares, likely not, but at this point it's not about wins anymore this season, it's about proving to the people that support the program that you're committed to getting this team back on track.

Having said all that, JJ will not be fired during the season if at all these next two years.

Alleva doesn't want to fire him mid-season. The last thing he wants is to get rid of Jones and some assistant takes over and does moderately well.

Alleva doesn't want to pay Jones for doing nothing, even though Jones does absolutely nothing...I'm so confused

Will Johnny Jones be fired after Kentucky, be fired after the season is complete, or be given one more season?

The main concern now should be about the current players (especially who will be with the team next seasons) and the recruitment!

What benefit does LSU get from letting him go now?

Avoid any tiny possibility of Johnny Jones somehow winning the SEC tournament, like Georgia in 2008...last place in the SEC regular season but ended up going on a run in the SEC-T and winning the damn thing and getting an automatic bid to the NCAA-T.

Just fire him now so there's no chance of LSU going on any miraculous run down the stretch under Jones that might sway opinions of fans, board members, or F King and prevent Alleva from being able to fire JJ after the season...like what happened with Miles last year.

LSU is better off letting the season end where it may fall this year.

There is no benefit for firing Jones today. There are way too many issues that just couldn't be fully solved in the middle of the season by anyone to be honest.

What you have to hope is that Alleva will conduct a full coaching search after the season is done and see who is available to hire without backing off and going internal or cheap.
