The men's basketball team takes more "WTF" shots than any team I have ever seen

The concept of good shot selection is very foreign to this group. God bless him, but Patterson is the hands-down winner of being guilty of taking the most "WTF" shots of anyone. A team having a game now and then when they take a lot of bad shots is acceptable...but this is a 5 year trend now.

There's a few players on this team, most notably Brandon Sampson, who could be a good bit better with GOOD coaching.

LSU has always been a "you can be star" basketball program, meaning we aren't going to run an offense to get you open shots, but hell if you can still score often you can be a star (NBA player).

Bingo, and anyone on the team has the green light at anytime.

This has been a symptom of all of Jones's teams at LSU.

What do you expect them to do? Run the non-existent offense to create good shots?

For 5 years Jones' teams have lacked situational awareness. That stems from the bozo on the bench. Hell, I remember a game at them PMAC against UF either last year or the year before where LSU had a double-digit lead with about 3-4 minutes to go. UF wasn't fouling, or even pressuring the ball with much effort. Nonetheless, LSU was hell bent to jack up deep shots early in shot clock or try to push the tempo for no reason. UF was letting LSU, WITH THE LEAD, bleed the clock and LSU refused to do it until the crowd went absolutely berserk screaming to "slow it down!"

There are simply no in-game repercussions for bad plays. It's as if it doesn't even affect Jones. Bad shots, the opponent driving uncontested to the basket time after time, dumb turnovers on 4 straight possession, ALL elicit the same stoic dumb stare from Jones. It truly is mind-boggling that as the HC he can't even have a basic human reaction to anything. Watch any game. How many coaches do you just staring blankly onto the court for minutes at a time?

As soon as Epps gets the ball at the top of the key, he takes that ugly wide-legged 3 attempt brick at the beginning of the possession before anybody else touches the ball. Pisses me off every time. Sampson is pressing way too much, so is Mays. Hayward doesn't shoot much, which is good, except for last night. He threw up some prayers. Not sure if he was coached to put it up, or just frustrated form not playing much that he felt he needed a few attempts. He plays good D. Poor Elbert doesn't even get off the ground when he shoots, but sometimes he gets lucky and it rattles in by pure force of luck.

This happened in last year's UGA game also. UGA threw in the towel with about 5 mins to go, and LSU jacked up wild 3's, let Ga back into the game, and had to scramble to gut out a win - which the other team already conceded. Geez...

But, the bigger problem is that LSU cannot defend, turns it over waaay too much, and cannot shoot FT's. Therefore, there's no way to close out a game. Especially in tournament play, when all that stuff is critical. And don't even get me started on lack of "moving without the ball" on offense.

What really drives me crazy is when the other team's defense is trapping/pressuring our ball handler, the rest of the LSU teammates refuse to move toward him to help out. They stay down close to the goal and watch him struggle without moving to help. Some fine teamwork. Maddening.

Hard to get good shots when you don't run an offense.

It isn't just this team. It has been every single season that Jones has been here. He's that bad

This has been a constant since jones got here. I remember johnny obryant being double teamed and nobody ever flashed or presented themselves for a shot. Jones is on a level we've never seen when it comes to incompetance.
