These are running 9 watts for the same 65 watt fluro bulb while that is a savings some of the new technologies are actually 6.5 to 7 watts. Why does that matter well if you are replacing 70 bulbs the 2 watt savings per bulb will give you 15 free bulbs.

Yep, and you could add outlets to a circuit also.

You should look into the Daylight rather than the soft white .
IMO it looks so much cleaner.

I agree with the daylight. the bright white light is so much better than the yellow dull light.

almost every fixture I have in my house has at least 4 bulbs on it. 3 on the porch, 2 in the dining room, one in the foyer, one in each of the 4 bedrooms, 2 in the living room, 2 in the kitchen, 1 in each of the 3 bathrooms. That's 17 fixtures that take 4 bulbs each.

Also, I need them to dim VERY low, almost no light whatsoever. For sexy time

best dimming is going to come from HUE and the added benefit is you can change the color to a sexy red or orange

spend a little more; get a LIFX, HUE or Osram tunable bulb and you can change the color temp as needed.

love the 4 hues in my pendant lights over the kitchen island. the app has pre-built dimming levels like CONCENTRATION, DIM, NIGHTLIGHT, READING, etc. and the bulbs change accordingly.

i'm not into all the smart shite with my lights and thermostat.
I have no problem flipping a switch, or turning a knob to dim. I also don't understand how people need to play with their thermostat so much that it's easier to have an app for it.

I got some dimmable LED's from Home Depot that weren't any more expensive than the regular LED's and they go down pretty low.

That's cool.

I just feel funny looking at them at Lowes or where ever and right next to them are the Daylight 4 packs for 10.00. I guess I just subconsciously feel like I'm getting screwed with the high priced bulbs.

convenience. picture coming back from a 2 week vacation in the summer and turning your AC down when you hit city limits so the house is cooling off as you get there.

also works if you forget to turn it up after leaving the house

No one knows if they last that much longer because they've only been out a couple of years, but they are rated to and they put out a much better and brighter light.

No, they've been around in several fashions for decades, just not in the form we use to replace incandescents and not much in consumer products. In the industrial world we have used them for indicators for quite some time (probably 2 decades, maybe more). Worst possible usage for a bulb. On and off frequently, often flashing, thousands of cycles, even ten or hundrends of thousands of cycles. Of the thousands of bulbs I've seen put in over the past 20 or so years, I've seen probably fewer than 10 replaced other than for damage. I saw more incandescants replaced in the first year I was working.

The biggest problems for the current bulbs is the power related electronics, not the LEDs themselves.

ETA: I agree the light quality and color is far superior to Flourescent and somewhat equivilant to incandescents. And they are significantly lower power users.

I don't want colored lights in my house.

That's not worth extra money to me, nor has that ever bothered me.

I have never forgotten to do that.

I recently changed the bathroom light bulbs to LED and as I have to replace others in the house I will replace them with LED. I replace the bathroom bulbs more than any other area in the house. The lighting has changed (not in a better or worse way), but its only because I was used to the other bulbs.

From my experience, CFLs nor LEDs last as long as the manufacturers say. Plus, usually the number of years manufacturers say their bulbs will last is based on it being on an average of 3 hrs per day.

He is a dumbass and doesnt know what "recessed" means. Who has 66 recessed bulbs in a 2800 sq ft house?

In my modest 2100 sq footer we have like 45 bulbs total, including lamps, desk, outside, etc etc.

you're clearly up-to-speed on LED bulbs.

and what are you using instead?
