Sark and the shadow staff has spent the last month breaking down film and implementing a game plan for both OSU and Clemson. Sark was probably reviewing the Clemson game plan with Saban back in Tuscaloosa before Clem/OSU game was over.
I'm sure Sark had already assumed many of the OC responsibilities once Kiffin was hired at FAU. Kiffin's job was to prep for UW. Sark's job was to prep for the title game.

If Lane had not left yet...having Sark do this job in an official capacity might be a violation depending on who he was working with.

Again, your OC eats boogers. Yikes!

It's not illegal to wear a headset.
Jeez
Jeez

and what about a non-designated coach actively coaching players on teh sidelines?

Bama has been abusing staff limits for years and having extra on field coaches. It's how their assistant coaches have so much more time to recruit. They don't have to be at practice nearly as much. Burton burns spends more time in Louisiana than he does in Alabama throughout the year.

"Coaching".
He can be on the sideline with the rest of the team.

Probably just talking to him about stuff, not coaching him.

Was Sark already coaching Bama?
Booger scandal made me think about the so called "shadow" staff...
What are the rules?
Think about it. Bama just decided to turn over the offensive play calling and coordinator duties to a guy who supposedly had no contact with players all year.

The rules are what Coach Saban says they are.

What's the point of having a booth full of "consultants" listening in?
So in case you need to go ahead and let your OC go a week before playing for the NC the transition is seamless because the analyst and OC-to be is up to speed on how things are done during games.
Where the frick else would they be? In the stands?

You completely missed the point. If analysts are barred from passing information to the staff or even talking to players then why does Saban have a booth full of consultants just "charting plays"? It's because they are passing information & do have contact with players during games.

explain to me how Locksley can coach on the sidelines, let alone participate in the coaching plan via headset
I don't know about Locksley, but if you guys can stop obsessing about Sark's booger eating for a moment, you'll notice that his headset has no mouthpiece, so he cannot communicate with the sideline from the booth.

Probably. But then there's the issue of proving it.

Who else is in the booth with Sark?
is there a GA in there...does he have a mouthpiece?
This isn't difficult.
Also...the rules about what Locksley can do are clear:
11.7.1.1 Countable Coach. An institutional staff member or any other individual outside the institution
(e.g., consultant, professional instructor) with whom the institution has made arrangements must count against
coaching limits in the applicable sport as soon as the individual participates (in any manner) in any of the following:
(Revised: 1/18/14 effective 8/1/14)
(a) Provides technical or tactical instruction related to the sport to a student-athlete at any time;
(b) Makes or assists in making tactical decisions related to the sport during on-court or on-field practice or
competition; or
(c) Engages in any off-campus recruiting activities.
There is no way you can make a case that in that video Locksley is not providing tactical or technical instruction to the Bama QB. Because if he ISNT...
...why is he on the sideline at all?

You guys cracked the code. Congrats you bunch of Columbos. The NCAA - with access to same tv footage you have - missed it all but you detectives solved it. Your team doesn't lose to Bama bc your players and your coaches aren't as good as Bama's. It's only bc Bama has more coaches.
Feel better sissies.

These positions have existed for a while now, and those personnel have been on the sidelines just as long.
But as soon as you hire an overqualified, familiar face in that role, well then everyone loses their minds!
