As someone who worked at McDonald's when I was young: it's really frickin loud back there. Sizzling meat, deep fryers going, all of the beeping timers on the heat trays, meat griddle, and fryers, air vents on griddle and fryers, front counter barking out what orders they need, people on the line making sandwiches yelling what meats they need cooked, etc. e
No different than other similar fast food restaurants, yet it seems there is much more loud and screeching talk from McDonald's employees than other places.
Most of the times this does not involve a front counter person yelling back to the kitchen staff. Its conversation between workers standing within a few feet of each other. Sometimes they are carrying on with friends who come in , often just loitering at the counter and blocking access for other customers.
This unbusinesslike activity often accelerates during the afternoon aafter rush hour.

McDonalds and Popeyes - two franchises that need to die away and be forgotten.
Places are usually dirty, food is either always crappy or unpredictable at best, customer service doesn't even exist, and feels like the sort of place you are equally likely to be poisoned or shot, as receive a good meal.
Get rid of them both.

It's louder back there than it seems to someone standing on the other side of the counter, on account of their proximity to the machines, fryers, etc.
But also yes, because of cultcha.
BTW, McDonald's in Europe are incredibly different; basically think of it as a 5-star Chick-fil-a.

Other than breakfast, what does McDonald's have that is any good? Their hamburgers suck and their chicken sucks. It's pretty much a worst case scenario if I find myself at McDonald's.

good grief. went there one night, very late. only one there at drivethru. "lady" - very big and non-Caucasoid came to window and hollered "WHAT JEW WANT" .
I wanted to say "to leave here alive" but I managed to get my order out. "WEERE OUT OF CHICKEN"....
Forgot what I eventually ordered, but I got out alive, which was my goal....

Every year or so I get a Big Mac. Each meat patty covers about 3/5 of the bun. In the commercials it covers the whole bun. Trickeration keeps me away.
Popeye's used to make fun of the size of KFC or Church's chicken. I went to Popeye's about a year ago and got pieces that were each half as big as those of yesteryear. Are they also telling me that I need to avoid them?
Screaming employees discussing their baby daddy not buying any diapers is none of my business and does nothing to enhance my dining experience.

Ask them to quell their uproariousness.
Shoot video of the look on their face, when they say "Haaah?".
Yell Worldstar!.
Profit.

I only went to McDonalds once in the last year and it was to get a sausage McGriddle in the drive through. And, I was greeted by the same grim faced middle aged black woman with no personality at the window as any other trip there before this time. There was no thank you or anything just an arm extended with the bag and then the window quickly closed.
The McGriddle was half the size that I remembered from the previous purchase over a year ago. Don't need to go back to any McDonalds.

You want bad customer service? Try the Popeyes anywhere
You know, when you don't live in a shithole, even people at fast food places are nice.

The real question is, why the frick are you at McDonald's...?

Went to the McD's in London at Tottenham Court Road, which is one of the busiest places on earth.
You place your own order on one of several kiosks out in the lobby area, pay, and get a number. Electronic signs above the counter tell you which collection area is processing your number and when it is ready.
The only noise from the employees is when they call out numbers.
It is awesome.
Examples of the kiosk and signs they use.

Contrast that with the dignified demeanor at Chik-Fil-A.
Panda Express has excellent service too.

San Antonio is a pretty nice place. I am sure you know that.
Popeyes is good food, horrible service.
Sorry for partying.
