Ok, this is conclusive proof that the War on Drugs kills more than it saves.
I suspect actually choosing to take the drug kills 99.99% of those who die from overdose. War on drugs, no.

Kratom is the answer. It should be used as a first line for pain relief after surgery. You cant overdose, and if you form a habbit, the effects on the user are minimal, thus not effecting daily life. The Dea is trying to ban it, and this stuff will be way more popular than Marijuana. Big money is going into the criminalazation of it, between this and marijuana, big pharma will be crushed.

If you think of the song name, that is a slang term for the most popular opiate still available. FWIW.

Hey-Ron is being blamed, however toxicology reports show it is actually phentonyl sold as hey-Ron that is the main cause of these overdoses.

why can't people switch to good old coke. That's what white people did in my day. It's only mentally addictive, not physically so you can kick it if it's not around and it is relatively safe as long as you don't have heart conditions.
But alas, no one has seen coke since 2002. (saw that in a movie, and sounded right to me) lol

Meth is replacing coke and crack in a lot of places.
Heroin and Meth...oh, my.

Drugs are a plague on our society. Unfortunately people are easily entangled.

Pity, hospitals are saving so many. Otherwise the numbers would be even better.

More than 50,000 Americans died from drug overdoses last year, the most ever.
Out of 325,000,000 people.
So basically nobody.

A couple of years ago the OT would have regular threads about posters getting their buzz on with various kinds of pills. You don't see that any more. I guess they wised up or are strong out on H.
Most of that crew bit the dust a while back.

We have one daughter in her late 20's who is a recovering H addict. Its been a long and tired road. She has had several people she knew who were in recovery relapse and die lately. Whatever is on the street now is stronger than average and its killing people. In particular those that have been off it awhile.
Our prayer lately is that our daughter sees this and stays the course. thats a day to day thing.

Crazy that just today I went through my phone cleaning out contacts and literally deleted 3 people's numbers that have died from OD just in the last year.
It's tragic

Yes it is. That stuff on the street now is a literal killer.

Foolish policy. And you are talking to an ER nurse who loves telling drug seekers to frick off because our docs don't carry triplicates.
And then the x-rays came back, and it was time for me to abuse the shite out of them. Good times.

I've been around people with all types of addictions in my family, as well as friends. I find heroin addicts to be arrogant and indignant towards those who try to help them. Never figured out what makes them such shitty people vs. cocaine addicts, crack heads, pot stoners, alcoholics, etc. I've watched heroin addicts try to destroy the lives of perfectly good people that cared about them. The ones I have been around make it hard for you to feel sorry for them. It is the only drug out there that can be dirty and laced enough on the street to kill you. A lot don't OD, they die from the rat poison and shite that is in some of the stuff out there. It really is a scary drug in its purest form. It makes people emotionally unrecognizable to those that love them.
