Shocking True Story-The Po Po demanded to see my ID and residency papers.

I had moved to rural Japan- Oita prefecture , the southern island of Kyushu. It was a pleasant, bucolic town, and I lived with a Japanese family. My first host family was the town dentist, and a man of respect. He often wore old-school wooden "geta"(shoes) and was among the most connected men in the city. Among my students were the mayor and the owner of the largest limestone plant in Asia. Important, connected guys who had attended Todai and owned large construction companies, etc.
Anyhow, about two weeks in, I heard a knock at the door and heard somebody enter the home "Konichawa!" "Irasshai" I said, as I went to the entrance. It was two cops who had come to "introduce" themselves to me. I invited them in and we sat down. The most horrifyingly racist events then transpired. My civil rights were irreparably quashed. I struggle with it to this day.
The police asked to see my passport. They asked to see my temporary work visa. They demanded the contact info of my boss. They demanded my contact information and the license plate of my car. They wanted a rough idea of my daily work schedule and what local towns I would be regularly visiting. They asked what my plans were. They asked how long I intended to stay in the country. They warned me not to break any laws. They told me that if I did, I would be deported. They told me that if my stay was longer than I indicated that I needed to stop in and notify them. They gave me their cards and warned me to be a respectful guest.
Well,as a "Citizen of the world" this was all too much for me. Imagine how scared I was. Imagine the racism I endured. Imagine the cultural arrogance one must have to think that every country has a right to monitor who is in their country.Imagine the cultural condescension one must have to lecture a guest on his personal behavior. *Shudder I hate to think that the USA under the Hitlerian control of Donald Trump (did I mention he lost the popular vote and hates all brown peoples) would stoop to such Gestapo tactics.
Now is the part where you marvel at my courage for surviving such an ordeal. Tell me how brave I am while I bask in my victim-hood status.

This was supposed to be "bakana" written in Japanese, but TD doesn't like that character set.
Clearly xenophobic.

IOWs other countries don't let people in willy nilly with no questions asked why should the USA? What would you have done if some gov official told you you could have a freephone if you registred to vote for the nearest Marxist leader and their party?

You should contact a lawyer and sue them for their barbaric ways.

How ever did you manage to type this story with obviously shaken hands? Be strong brother, you will survive.

You've must have been really scared when they threatened to SEND YOU BACK HOME if you broke their laws. The humanity (or inhumanity in this case).

I've lived in Japan. Very polite place and one of my favorite countries to visit, but possibly the most actively homogenic societies on earth.
