That shite is disgusting. We have this one chick at our office who chooses sushi for her birthday lunch every damn year. Most people here order from normal places that have something for everyone. No she's not hot. It seems like everyone I know that likes that shite wants to force me to like it.
This post leads me to believe you have many issues

I've tried it. I don't get it. It doesn't gross me out, but I don't want to eat it.
I'll do you one better
I feel the same about raw oysters. frick 'em.
wait ! people like different types of food? WTF !?!?!

Sounds like you've tried absolute crap.
First of all, most rolls don't have roe on them, and most of the time you can't even taste it.
Second of all, rolls isn't "sushi" in the traditional sense.
Go to a very good place next time you're in Vegas or LA or NYC. Sit at the sushi bar. Order Omakase and have an open mind.
You'll change your mind once you've had the real thing.

Sushi stopped being trendy like 20 yrs ago... It's just like any other cuisine now, Mexican, Chinese, sushi etc

Get Tempura.
There are several rolls at newer places that are basically seafood boudin.
They take a fried shrimp with spicy rice roll it up with something like avocado and deep fry it. Try those before being selfish on someone else's day.
This. He can get tempura. He can get California rolls or shrimp tempura rolls. There are plenty of choices that don't involve raw fish.

Me. First, I'm located in the middle of the country where I couldn't be further away from fresh fish. Second the rolls are covered in fish eggs . Third it doesn't taste good.
Fourth: The sushi restaurant probably sells a whole variety of cooked items, like fried rice, stir fry, and even completely cooked sushi rolls.
Fifth: You're completely ignorant of food in general. Glad people like you stay out of sushi restaurant and inhabit Applebee's

Not really. The only people I see bitch about it are those who either "Ain't eatin' no bait!" or just bitch about it to be that person.
No one forces anyone to eat a particular dish, and if you can't go to a sushi restaurant and find something you like on menu that includes cooked items, then Golden Corral and Chili's are more than likely in their wheelhouse.
My cousin likes sushi but doesn't eat it because to him it's not a good value. I can respect and understand that. He doesn't bash people who still eat it, unlike those who have never tried it and never will.

Because I don't like sushi? So now people who don't like every type of food are ignorant of food? Ohhhh Kaaaay, man.

Well you didn't know sushi restaurants had other things on the menu besides sushi.
I think you being ignorant is a fair assessment.

This is another polarizing food as many people either love it or hate it. The major difference between raw oysters and sushi is that oysters have the texture of eating a giant fricking booger (a salty, sea water delicious booger, but a booger none the less) and sushi has an incredible texture. This is an extremely pretentious statement for me to say, but if you don't like sushi or just think it's "meh", then you don't have a refined palate to appreciate its greatness. Sushi/sashimi/maki has so many things going on that make it great from the freshness of a big fatty piece of fish and how well that balances with the salty soy/wasabi and the crunch of vegetables with the slight vinegar hint from the rice that has an incredible texture in it's own right. Then you have some slightly sweet sauces going on, spicy as frick chile sauce going on, salty fish roe, etc. It's amazing. I don't understand how anyone cant like it, but to each their own.

This thread has people evangelizing sushi like a cult.
Some people don't like it, I don't see what the big deal is. Some people don't like seafood at all, I don't think it's because they're idiots who haven't eaten good seafood.
Now, if I have a business deal at a sushi place or client who wants sushi, looks like I'm eating some fricking sushi. Doesn't mean I like it.

As a kid I loved raw oysters. I'd eat them as fast as my dad and uncle could shuck them. My uncle's dad owned an oyster bar in Florida. A saltine cracker with an oyster on it with a touch of Tabasco was a dream to me as a five year old.
Now I prefer them chargrilled or fried. I'll still eat them raw but cooked is my preference.

For the record, I think buffets in general are almost as bad as sushi. It is nasty to see the massive mounds of food people pile on their plate. Why see how much food you can pile on your plate when you can go back as much as you want? Never made sense to me.

Chargrilled on some toast is the shite.
Raw is vomit.

Now I want to fly to New Orleans and go to Stanley and have Eggs Stanley for breakfast with the fried oysters on the side.
