Me and the wife have been going there every 4-5 years since our honeymoon there 18 years ago.

Refund? Kathy purchased that home in late 2015. She always offers insurance? Did you not get the trip insurance?

You have NO idea how much you've just helped me. She continues to refer to it as her clients home, and that she would put them in financial hardship by rescheduling or refunding us. We offered to negotiate something with them but she flat out ignored our attempts. Good to know it's her.

Sounds like they were able to save downtown. There's going to be crazy pics later when they start letting folks back in.

Had the rain not started when it did, the city would've been screwed.

It sounds like a lot of the outlying cabin areas and resorts are completely gone. There's no place for tourists to stay (if they even came there). This is going to make it very difficult for that area to recover.

Yeah. The people who live there all work downtown, so there's that. I haven't seen anything on Sky Harbor. That's where I stayed the last two times I've gone.

Only 4 injuries 3 now at Vanderbilt burn unit amazing though no fatalities
Over 100 structures burned 14,000 evacuated from the area

Looks like Ober Gatlinburg is gone and Westgate Resorts

It is still raining

Add Black Bear Falls to the list of destroyed areas.

And GSMNP has closed all of their facilities in the entire park for now.

Wow. Starting to see the structures go down now. This area will be a dead zone for years, if not ever. No where to stay = no money coming in.

I read a link (sorry to say on FB) that the eagles had all been evacuated and were safe and accounted for.

We stayed just across the street from the Park Vista this summer for a night (Sidney James Lodge, crappy place) before camping in Cades Cove for a few days. I wasn't a fan of Gatlinburg but this is sad (did enjoy the Trout House).
