Reports are saying that the downtown area is 118 degrees

I think that is from a weather station that last read 118 before going out. Didn't sound like it was downtown from what I saw.

She say if it was raining yet?

Watching coverage from Knoxville news. They said there is some rain now moving into the area.

Knoxville News WATE

EDIT: Looks like it is raining some.

That's not far from me but I am not familiar with that specific location. The entire area has been effected.

Thanks, friend. Stay safe. I hope this clears up for you all, and perhaps she will change her tune and allow us to reschedule so we can experience the beauty of your area. If not, I'll have to sic the OT army on her website.

Is that just in TN? I know two were caught on the NC side
Yes, the guy I posted started fires North of Chattanooga. The older guy started one near the Nantahala. I hope they catch every single one of them and hang em up over a slow roasting fire.

I am surprised she will not refund you. She is likely from Florida.

She's very odd. My husband, who's far more diplomatic than me right now, tried to speak sense into her regarding the danger the smoke posed for myself and toddler. She gaslighted (punny) us to no end--going on and on about how amazing the weather was there-- and tried to make us the bad guys.

Website is NCmountains.net, name is Kathy.

Kathy is wrong saying these fires were an act of God and not refunding you all. Most of these fires are arson or stupid people not listening to orders not to start fires.

Some heavy rainfall should be there soon. Unfortunately high winds will come first.

Knoxville, TX only picked up 0.06" of rain and the band has deteriorated as it moved east. Probably very little impact on the fires but might bring a wind shift.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like much rain behind this for the area:

To be fair, the weather has been nice. Only occasionally is there thick smoke, usually in the mornings. Still, it's not a situation I would bring my wife and family into and she should understand that. If she's trying to downplay the smoke, she is full of shite.

My friend says it is raining. Didn't say how hard, but on the live coverage it looked like a bit of a soak.

Correct. I wouldn't care if I wasn't pregnant, and didn't have my three year old tagging along. But bringing him to a place where we might be forced to stay indoors the entire time is ridiculous. I can do that in the comfort/insanity of my own home

Hopefully, it is enough to keep things in check. There should be another round of rain late tomorrow night.

You're not wrong. The realtors here are some of the lowest level scum I have ever had to unfortunately deal with. They constantly try and take advantage of people. Especially those they know are not from the area. They are ALL from F-ing Florida. They come here, complain constantly about the shite hole they left in Florida and then pettiton the city council to enact statutes to make this area like the shithole they left. I would threaten her with litigation.

Emergency agency: 30 structures reported on fire, so far, in Gatlinburg, Tenn., including a 16-story hotel and an apt. building.

16 story hotel?!

Thank you for sharing. I will do one better: I'll let the autistic army of the OT deal with her. That would be far more debilitating than litigation.

And I could totally see her being from FL. She was extremely flighty, and she doesn't "do" the whole logic/reason thing.

We were to arrive on Friday, the 25th and stay until Thursday, dec 1.

I learned of the fires and contacted everyone I knew in the area, and parks/recreation people to gather info on Nov 14. Then ran it by my OB, he said that going was out of the question. We asked her about rescheduling, refund.. Anything. She said she would have to rebook our dates in order to allow us to reschedule. And that a refund was out of the question. When we explained this was obviously an extenuating circumstance, she said we should've purchased trip insurance.

Wow. No one could have predicted the fires. That's unbelievable. I am going to stir some trouble and call her tomorrow.

Actually, I think everyone should call and schedule one week after the other and then hang up when she asks for payment. Using fake names of course. Dibs on Ed Orgeron. My friends call me Yaw Yaw.
