RIP pancake house.

The wind today is what really got all of this to get so out of control. Many areas in the SE today had strong gradient winds. That really helped to spread the fires up there, and spread relatively quickly.

As long as the Pancake Pantry makes it, it'll be okay.

You are correct. I can hear and see helicopters scanning the area as I type.

That plus a long late summer drought made for the perfect storm up there today.

Tennessee EMA is reporting 30 structures on fire in Gatlinburg, including a 16 story hotel (doesn't specify which hotel).

Yep, exactly. The drought has allowed these fires to spark up easily, and the wind today was able to spread them easily.

This is the view from Dollywood. Dollywood is being evacuated.

16 story hotel has got to be Park Vista.
Posted on 11/28/16 at 10:43 pm to Roll Tide Ravens
I'm guessing it's the Park Vista:

shite. I hope those people that said they were trapped in that hotel managed to find a way out.

1st waive of rain appears to have done little. Notice the plume reemerge as the rain moves out:

Hopefully, that next line holds together.

I was thinking Park Vista too based on videos I have seen of fire right outside of it. There are guests that are stuck in there.

One of the media reporters has reported that everyone is out of the Park Vista.

Man...this really fricking sucks.
There's no way there won't be loss of life.

Serious prayers for these people. God, please don't let anyone die. Imagine being on vacation with your family and this happening..
