If u are a QB recruit in high school, do you want to play for a former offensive coordinator head coach(Herman/Fisher) or a defensive line coach?
That is stupid.

Nick Saban was a great qb, and excellent offensive minded coach. Oh, wait!!!

My point is that we should not have made a hire equal to or less than Les Miles. I mean, what's the point in firing him in the first place????
The point of firing Les was that the program was on a downward trajectory. Miles was given an entire off season to fix things and had his best roster since 2011, but was too hard headed to change anything.
Considering the options available, hiring Coach O gives LSU a chance to fix the football program - which does a lot of things right - without blowing the whole thing up.

To be fair, Saban rarely seems to attract big time QBs. Point's still dumb.

O pumpers, please understand this:
Fired Miles because of bad offense and QB play. LSU has the defense figured out. LSU needed a offensive minded head coach. Not the defensive line coach running the team.

You do realize that the HC doesn't necessarily call plays, right? There are many schools where the HC is simply the game manager and let's his OC and DC call plays.

If you don't understand why Miles was fired, then you should stop posting. What I have SEEN let's me know we need to keep Aranda, fire BDP, and go out and get a good OC. Herman lost to SMU for crying out loud. Jimbo got gangbanged by Louisville. Only Saban is undefeated (frick directional Michigan) and their hardest game was against an Orgeron coached LSU. Look, coach O was third on my list, but he is no slouch based on what I have seen. Priorities should be 1. Aranda, 2. Fire BDP, and 3. Get an OC, and 4. Tell the fair weather fans to frick off or get on board. Geaux Tigers.

The whole "Pumpers" thing is losing its effect. Just a little FYI. Now it's just a way to divide people you disagree with.
You really need to get on the team. It's time

So who doesn't need great coordinators to win in the SEC West?

So pretty much like every head coach.
Not the best ones. The best ones could use grad assistants as coordinators.

DocBugbear- there is a little fkaw in #1. iIf he wins 10 games next year or were to make it to the SEC title game that idiot A.D. will immediately jump and give some out rageous raise and that you can book. He's proving it in the past. As a long time fan will trust but verify, meaning I will watch and see what he does. I'm more pissed that Aleva has made LSU look stupid two years in a row. The person that hired him should be fired for incompetence. Many people said they would prefer coach O, with a proven OC and keep Aranda over those mentioned other than Herman or Fisher. I did and I will stick by that until he proves otherwise. LSU One team One heartbeat

How many top OC's do you think will work for 1.5 to 2mil? Same for top DC's?

Well we have managed to hang onto commits from two of the better ones in the country for 2 months with this coach, so we can screw your hypothetical

I never once stated that I didn't understand why Miles was fired. Hell, I supported that move 2 years ago. But we had 2+ months to find a solid head coach. Texas fires one and hires one in an hour. We hire a guy that won 4 sec games in 3 years. That's my reasoning. Show me what I'm missing.
Posted on 11/26/16 at 3:37 pm to DemSaintsDoh
Because if Texas was open Herman was going there, period. Who else would you overpay to come coach here?
Being LSU's head football coach doesn't seem to interest to many top coaches.

We fired Les Miles, who never had a losing season and won 2 SEC titles and an NC, because the offense was not good enough. We replaced him with a defensive line coach with a career 21-29 head coaching record.
I think this falls under the heading of failing to address the problem.
