I work for a large oil field services company in the Project Management/Estimating department.

Since the election, less than 48hrs ago, I've received about 10 inquires for new platform projects and about 20 for platform improvement projects. Some on the shelf in the Gulf and some deep water. Let's drill, bitches!

Just goes to show you the immediate affect Trump has had on the economy. Pretty crazy.

Please hurry, we are getting killed right now!!! I hope we can hold out long enough to be around for some of these projects.

January was projected as doom and gloom, please let these projects come to fruition.

Was at lunch yesterday and overheard the guys behind me discussing the work for this week. First guy said "we got three this week." Second guy said "three baskets, at least we will have something to do." FIrst guy said "No, three jobs."

I wish this was true.

At best these requests are for budgetary estimates.

What year will these projects go to bid? Much less be built?

The fact is the majors are cash poor right now and are all trying to figure out how to reduce their production costs before Spending anything on capital projects.

There is no oil supply shortage. More drilling isn't going to help.

I received a new project yesterday afternoon. Not saying there is a correlation (but there is...believe me).

Still don't see significant activity increase until oil goes up. Most capital programs are still looking flat for 2017

This is great news. I worked for GE Oil & Gas designing blow out preventers but got laid off awhile back and still having trouble getting back into the industry. Every time I reach out to my contacts they're all still worrying about more layoffs.

Outstanding. I worked for H&P and Transocean in the gulf from 1998-2007. I did a small stretch with Diamond Offshore Drilling too. I'm happy the oilfield boys will get more jobs.......Drill honky drill!

There are 4 major multi billion dollar offshore oil platforms being designed and built now. All will be in deep water off the coast of Louisiana these have been in the works well before the election.
1 is mad dog 2 for BP.
Appomattox and Polaris for Shell and one for Exxon I forgot the name.

There might be others, these are the ones I know about

I think more than anything, the political winds in this country are instilling a little more confidence that things will improve. I can't speak to exact economics, because I honestly don't know. But does President Trump instill more confidence in negotiations with the Saudis to curve production? Does rolling back regulation and lifting the mouritorium project greater profits? I can't say. Although my livelihood is the oil field, I am only on he services side of things, not production.
