1. Jimbo
2. Herman
3. Chip Kelly
4. Aranda -- sliding him up here.
5. P.J. Fleck
6. Desperation mode.... Willie Taggart.... Lou Tepper, Hal Hunter
I think Aranda should be at the top of the B list.

I agree except i wouldn't say Aranda is a desperation hire. although i understand why you phrased it that way.

What kind of a list is that? Hal Hunter should be ahead of Lou Tepper.

1. Jimbo
2. Herman
3. Orgeron
Why take a risk on those other guys if you know what the floor is with Orgeron. Huge risk with any of those guys and i'd rather roll with the continuity and recruiting we know Orgeron would bring.

Then why did we fire Les Miles? You're basically saying that we hire another Miles by hiring Orgeron. Really terrible argument on your part. Too scared to take a chance so take guaranteed mediocrity.

Orgeron's floor is pretty low. He's a terrible head coach.

1. Tom Herman
2a. Jimbo Fisher
2b. Chip kelly
Make Herman say no.

Aranda will be gone after next year regardless. Someone will offer him a HC job. Hell, he might be gone to Houston this year if Herman leaves. I would seriously interview him.

There is absolutely no way that Orgeron should even be in the top 10. There are at least a dozen names that have been thrown out there that are better options than he is.
1. Fisher/Herman
2. Chip Kelly
3. PJ Fleck
4. Larry Fedora
5. Bobby Petrino

Dude its more than just recruiting. Its building a team , hiring assistants etc etc .

We fired Miles because he was stuck in his way and did not move. This caused a lack of growth on offense and if it hadn't already would have effected offensive recruiting.
Orgeron is not Miles. With Orgeron we will have top notch recruiting. It remains to be seen what we will do with the offense but he has shown that he will adjust the offense to find what works. Nothing worked against Bama...we will see what it looks like going forward.
What i dont want to do is go get some guy who is just a hot name who we have no idea if he can recruit on a big time level or if he fits our school. I would love to go get the next Nick Saban. What i dont want is the next Will Muschamp.
I have no issue swinging for the fences with Fisher or Herman. I am completely unworried about Fisher. I am reasonably confident that Herman can do well here.
Guys like Fleck however are HUGE GAMBLES. In the last 15 years we have seen the University of Florida screw up a coaching hire TWICE. We have seen Michigan whiff several times. We have seen Texas hire a guy that may not make it past 3 seasons.
In Orgeron LSU would have a guy that they know can motivate, they know can recruit, they know can operate politically. They would also have a guy that they have some leverage with. He would pretty well have to go and hire an OC that operates differently. He might go get both Kiffin brothers...one for DL and one for OC. With ORgeron i know the risk. Its a risk that isn't likely very high. He isn't going to be Ole Miss Orgeron. Worst case scenario is in 3 yrs we go get somebody else and hand him a stacked with talent team.
Thats why i said...go after Jimbo....go after Herman...if they say no then hire O. I am fine with that.

We can have that without Orgeron too. There are other coaches that can do this.

Orgeron is not Miles.
Good recruiter, motivator, not really an Xs and Os guy, tries to win games based on talent alone instead of developing a proper offensive gameplan to beat said team. Pretty sure they're fairly close to each other in many aspects except O was a failed HC and Miles wasn't.

This is a poor excuse for our offensive performance last night. Somehow Kent State and Western Kentucky could muster more offense than LSU against Bama, but O and Ensminger get to slide because it was Bama?

Again just more of Miles is what you're asking for. I'd rather take the risk on someone else than just "settle" on O.

Herman and especially Fleck are complete and utter crapshoots. They have proven nothing, zilch, nada. LSU needs a proven head coach, not the hot, new shiny toy.

And that's why Herman and Fleck are behind Jimbo. Why don't you share your own realistic top 5?
Posted on 11/6/16 at 7:23 pm to clamdip
I agree
Jimbo
Herman
Fleck
If Chip Kelly is available I would put him there with Jimbo - definitely above Herman.
I would also approach Dabo Swinney

Fuente is a solid HC, but I don't see him leaving VA Tech after 1 year.

Orgerons foor is 10-25 that's as low as it can get
