Just got out and thought it was awesome. Looking at the trailers I thought the visuals were gonna be trippy but it was fine.

Any post credit scenes or tie ins with the other marvel films?

I'm still rocking a boner from that mid credits scene. It was Thor and Strange talking. Thor says he needs to find Odin. Strange said he's gonna help Thor find Odin.

The end credits scene is Mordo and the outcast scorer from earlier in the movie who healed himself. He takes his power (I think) and says there's too many sorcerers

Just got out, I really liked it but I'm going to nit pick a couple of things.

I really wish they would have told us more back story. They rushed explaining it and I would like to know the beginnings of it more.

You really don't connect with the character much because he's rushed into the super hero role so quick.

They made it seem like strange just went from being a normal person to acquiring these great powers in like a year. Seemed a little far fetched but I'm just nit picking

Yep, Mordo did not come off too evil to me, but rather cruel. He was already established as being a cruel person when he insisted on killing their enemies without remorse. His entire belief system has been exposed as being lies. It is not surprising to me to that he wants to take back the magic of those he views as misusing it. He's damn near a magical version of the Punisher in the MCU. He is dealing out his version of punishment to those abusing their powers.

I enjoyed it.

This would be the first superhero movie I would recommend in 3d. The visuals were fantastic.

Cumberbun did a good job. I could watch an origin story on the cape.
I just don't understand how dr. Strange needs any help with the shite he can do.. pretty impressive array of powers

What does it mean? Teach me

Is he now the villain for Dr Strange 2?

Though I haven't read much Dr Strange I do know that Mordo tends to be a villain.

Usually he becomes a bad guy b/c he is jealous of Strange and tries to kill the Ancient One. When he fails he is banished and permanently butthurt.

As for the movie, I thought it was pretty damn good. It's like they took the micro-verse visuals from Ant-Man and mashed them up with Inception.

I actually thought , for a second, that when Strange was in his introductory dimension travel ant-man was going to cameo

I actually kind of rank it right with Ant-Man. I got the same vibe and similar feeling from both films. Really my only complaint as Rachel McAdams. I mean, it wasn't her fault but her role simply didn't need to be there.

Also, I agree with someone that Strange was thrust in the role of hero a tad too quickly and I think that's what keeps this from being Iron Man caliber. We just don't get to see much of Strange not being a hero. I wanted just a little more of his character fleshed out that way we had a firm basis of who he is, which is something the original Iron Man did.

And don't get me wrong, I liked the film, a lot and I thought this might have been Marvel's first flop. But it wasn't, at all and that's a win because this was by far their weirdest movie yet and was a definite risk.

I really enjoyed the first half of the movie. Around the halfway point I was thinking to myself that this was easily the best CGI I have ever seen.

The next 1/4 was pretty good as well (bit of a drop off but still good). The final 1/4 went full Green Lantern IMO. When he flew into the dark realm or whatever, my god was that awful. I wish we wouldn't do stuff like that in movies. It's just so bad. It just doesn't look good.

However, the movie was still very good overall. Solid 8/10. Probably will be the lowest grossing Marvel movie in a while though.

I thought they did a good job with that overall. I didn't mind the dark demension or the way they handled the CGI of that.

I am curious as to who the next big bad will be after Thanos. Could it be Dormamu?

It was a typical Marvel movie with stunning visuals. I do agree with the poster who mentioned that the plot was boring. The middle of the movie dragged pretty hard. I get that it's good to have humor, but 90% of Marvel's heroes feel the exact same. They all make these little quips and are arrogant jokesters.

So with Capt America, Thor, Iron Man, Ant Man, Falcon, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and Star Lord it's become a best of "one liner" competition. Strange and Stark are pretty much the same character just science vs mysticism.

Agree with all of this. It was a solid movie, and I give them a pass for the writing because its an origin story. BUT they need things to become more serious. I know that sounds weird, but they need the tone in these movies to start of gloomier I guess? They need to realize everyone has seen this type of movie many times, its time to start writing dramatically. In fact, they need to...dare I say it....go a little more Zach Snyder like...

The quips are exactly as you said...unnecessary, especially the stupid beyonce part in the movie...and then Wong is listening to it? Wasn't necessary.

I'm guessing that's not the director's choice, but more of a "let's pander to the everyday person" type thing.

I really hope they do quit them smartass quips, or how about use them in a more serious tone? Instead of using a quip to get a laugh, how about one where its in an intense moment and it purposely tries to get more of a short "heh", but its in the midst of that intense moment.

I was afraid of the writing style going stale, and I'm hoping they're working hard to transform the story. At this rate, the Infinity Wars might seem kind of meh. From movie to movie, the stakes need to change, and there needs to be evidence of those stakes changing.

Good movie. Glad I saw it. I don't usually like the comic book movies, but I missed my showing of Hacksaw Ridge, and this turned out to be a good substitute.

It was a good movie with great visuals. There was a lot though that went unexplained and the movie lacked character development. The main villain may also be close to the lamest ever in a MCU film.

I actually didn't think he was an elite sorcerer at all. Kaecilius was owning him.

Really the only thing that saved him and made him badass was the Time Stone.

I just got out of it and while it's still fresh in my mind, I absolutely love to this movie.

I don't know where it falls in the Marvel film ranking, but I would certainly put in the top half. Maybe top 5.

SPOILER

The final confrontation with Dormammu is clever and better than the straight up fight these films normally end with. The manner in which Dormammu attacks is what I expect the visuals will look like when the showdown with Thanos occurs.

The negative feedback this film is getting is confusing. It's great and has an identity all its own and doesn't rely too much on Marvel Cinematic continuity.

All of this.

I do think it's perfectly acceptable for people to have a problem with it feeling similar. I get it. Heroes really have a finite set of journeys regardless of who you are talking about. The problem is that Marvel is introducing hero after hero.

What they have done is, outside of Iron Man, gone pretty far outside of the first film in the second. First Avenger gave us Winter Soldier. Thor gave us Dark World.

I think they'll take another chance, especially given Mordo, in the second movie.
