Big Jakes BBQ in St.Gabriel is worth the drive. Hoss Cartwright porkchop Thursdays always has a line out the door. Plus they play hard rock and old school metal to keep the riff raff out.

Who is ordering BQ in BR?

I've always enjoyed TJ Ribs. Of course, since it's popular, most here will say it sucks. Always thought it was good.

Couyon's is the best BBQ in the area. Whole Foods is solid too.

Is Podnuh's still around?

The Podnuhs on bluebonnet/Perkins was so disappointing.

Good bbq chicken too. Only problem with Jakes is that they're only open for lunch on weekdays I believe.

Baton Rouge is too close to Texas for real BBQ. Since you asked about entire restaurant, TJ Ribs has some excellent items including best wings in town
Wut .. Texas .. BR is closer to New Orleans, come on down for decent BBQ.
TJ's does a decent job so not sure why the hate.

They made a great burger, though.

Podhuh's on Sherwood is up for an award "The Worst non-chain (national) restaurant in Baton Rouge".
Pimanyoli is pretty good, but no beer, which goes great with BBQ, and they have weird hours.

Deep South on Plank Road is the only bbq in BR that I would point anyone toward. Sylvia does a great job.
Good bbq in south BR at fair price could be a real money maker.

I honestly think the best BBQ in this town is at Whole Foods.
