...not saying Cameron was a good OC but I think Miles hamstrung him.
Don't disagree that Miles didn't head this up, but Jimbo and The Wizard were able to create within Miles' scheme. Marriage made in hell.
Remember this is the same guy the Ravens ran off DURING the playoff run to the Super Bowl.

Smith can be every bit as good as Engram or Howard. Hell I think Jeter is a huge target and mismatch that isn't utilized enough, but you know, that just might change over the next month and a half. It all comes back to the effectiveness of the Oline. They have some huge challenges coming up.

I think the firing of Les/Cam somewhat put us out of our misery....
No, it put shite for offense out of its misery and restored the confidence in our players chances of winning.

still lots of football left to be played, but I'm not expecting the world at this point.
You can't Ensminger and O both have stated you can't overall the offense midseason. They are tweaking it and probably adding plays in gradually.
The score board last night was full of football retards bitching about the same ol offense in the 1st half.
People better get a grip this is not some overhauled offensive system just because the quitter is gone.

If a tight ends coach, who was promoted to OC, didn't start implementing more plays for the tight ends, i would be highly concerned.
Posted on 10/16/16 at 2:10 pm to Tiger Tracker
you should have been concerned way before that

Love to see Desean and his talents finally being utilized to exploit defenses. I'm happy for him, he's a great guy.
Though it does sadden me to think of how Les and his offense wasted this ability all those years. Awesome thoroughbred that you keep just sitting in the stable because it doesn't fit your flawed idea of what an offense should be.

I'm glad he finally got used correctly. Les wasted so much talent...

Certainly, but there's a want to enjoy more quality blocking.

LSU now has 2 tight ends with at least 4 catches through 6 games.
That hasn't happened, through 6 games, since at least 2005, per Ross Dellenger.
Let that one sink in.

At this point, saying Miles was an incompetent game day coach and strategist is an insult to incompetent game day coaches and strategists

Desean smith is a beast and it's almost criminal how little he has been used. There is no reason he can't be a Jordan reed type nfl prospect.

He's a total mismatch when on the field.
the weird thing about DeSean in particular is that in his (and Cam's) first game vs TCU, they split him out wide in the red zone and threw the ball to him. this was with the game still tight. I really thought we were gonna see him used more than he was. then he went into witness protection until the ND bowl game like a good 20 games later.
the lack of use of the TE post-Dickson was just mystifying. but I guess you could say that about the offense as a whole the last few years under Les to an extent.

Concerned about what? Ensminger wasn't OC until two games ago.
I was just making the point i would have been incredibly surprised/worried if the TE coach (now OC) didn't implememt more plays with the TEs, as we have some good ones who weren't utilized in the old offense.

That went way over your head.
His point was you (everyone) should've been concerned a long time ago with the ineptitude of the offense under Miles, especially the last three years.

It didn't go over my head. Lol. I just don't understand why we're even talking about the old offense or OC. My first post had nothing to do with it.

I'd agree IF Coach O didn't come in and fire Cam too.

It's the whole point of this thread. The players, while trying to be as respectful as possible, are basically saying Miles was the problem.

Oh jesus...nvm. lol. His response didn't make sense, to me, about my statement as i was not referring to the old offense.
This is a dumb thing to debate. Lol. Let's just drop it.

I used to have great respect for miles. I was stupid to believe he would ever step back from the offense. Cam would've done fine with the talent he had if miles didn't handcuff him. I hate we lost two early but it was a blessing in disguise. I'm a believer in coach O and think he gives us what we need. He recruits well, fiery, players love him... But he will allow the coaches to do what they want offensively. We have a grand slam of a staff. We just need the right OC and we will see great things. Too many big programs falter with hiring the flavor of the month. UT, tenn, USC... We need to do what Clemson did and hire our position coach who is fiery and recruits well. Imo.
