I've debated on asking others' opinions on this matter. One professional that has been VP for several different companies said that my situation is below the norm in the professional world.
I'm an NP that works 5 days per week at a clinic.
I get holidays off, but only 5 days PTO/sick days combined.
With Christmas and New Years falling on a weekend, as of right now, we have not been told if we are getting any days off for those holidays.
What do y'all think of this situation? Especially with regards to being in a professional field/position?

Company was bought out so on Jan 1 we are under new company's policy which is 20 days for me
Good news is old company's carried over and they are cashing us out at end of year for unused. I have 38 days I'll get paid on!

20 days, which includes sick days, but I just work remotely if I'm sick. There is no limit on rollover, or max accrual.
Luckily we are only docked if we take off an entire day. Half days don't count against us.

Just been at this company for a year, so I get 16.25 PTO days. That includes vacation and sick days. Can accrue up to 90 days and sell back up to 120.
Ten holidays and one "discretionary holiday" we can use at any point in the year.

24 vacation, 24 sick, and 13 Holidays. And I can carry over as many as I do not use. Well over 1000 of each saved.

4 weeks and every other Friday off.
Used to work for a company that shutdown for Christmas and New Years and we got 8 of the 10 days paid.

I get 17 weeks off, paid. 18, every 3rd year.
I went back to driving, from sales position.
We have 3 drivers for 2 runs, you work 2 weeks on, 1 off. Ur technically on call while off, but no one calls off sick. Work less than 32 hours a week, and NO Saturdays.

0.
Don't know what I get in terms of sick/personal days since I rarely do get sick and no one I care about has died since I started in January.
10 days/yr starting January 1, then + 2 days/yr after that. Not a ton, but I'm already 33 and I've rarely gotten any PTO throughout my life, so whatever.
I don't plan on using them for an actual vacation for several years. Plan is to take 2 days off for Thanksgiving (family goes to Arkansas every year), then use the other 8 days taking off the final 8 Fridays of the year.

Go lord there are some people with great vacation days in here.
I'm salary and get 5.5 hours of PTO per pay check (twice a month). Friday's are work from home days. During my busy months I work 60+ hour weeks, but when I'm slow I maybe only put in 30 hours. So I take vacation then and just get my work done at the beginning of the week and don't use PTO the other part of the week.

This. I don't see how people keep up, if they actually used that much. I dread seeing my email after 1 day off.

Send it to me man. You are used to traveling a lot... This is a healthcare consulting and technology firm in DC. Good stuff. I live in LA but get paid on a DC salary. That plus PTO works well!

10 paid holidays.
26 days of vacation (can bank and roll over up to 6 weeks)
13 days of sick leave(that can accumulate)
I keep 6 weeks of vacation in the bank at all times, and I have 40-plus weeks of sick leave.
It's pretty great. The only downside is no one does my work when I'm gone. I sometimes lose vacation time because stuff has to get done.

for my job it's definitely
Days off vs Pay
It's not great, but, having 17 weeks, i can do shite to make up some of the cash, or sit on my arse and troll OT and play video games.
Had to get out of sales, the cutters and packagers were costing me accounts, and no one was going to do a thing about it. So days off vs Pay for me.

Plus 10 sick days during the school year right?
Posted on 10/9/16 at 5:10 am to CorkSoaker
8 holidays plus 3 "floating holidays" I can use whenever. 22 days of PTO for vacation and sick leave accrued through the year. I can roll over up to a years worth of PTO to the next year. Amount of PTO is based on years with the company. Max is 32 days.

Ding ding. Which means they don't owe you squat for earned PTO when you terminate.
