quote:

The costume is based on Disney's animated depiction of Maui, a key figure in Polynesian oral tradition. It featured full-length brown trousers and a long-sleeved shirt covered in "tattoos," as well as a "skirt" made of leaves.

quote:

Chelsie Haunani Fairchild, who described herself as Polynesian and a native Hawaiian, said the costume was an example of cultural appropriation. It was wrong to sell a costume that allowed children to pretend to be another race, she said.

Really? So now only white kids can wear a Snow White costume since she was white?

No silly. Only white people can be racist. Reference black Annie for an example.

Can we just go ahead and make everything racist and get it the frick over with? Take these SJW frickers' power of false engagement away. Just label it all racist, tell them it won't change and to get the frick over it... or don't...

If people and organizations would stop giving in to these dumb asses, this wouldn't be an issue.

Since when does a Snow White costume come with sleeves that make you look white?

"Cultural appropriation" as a negative thing is such a ridiculous concept. What kind of people take that seriously?
What can there be to be offended about?

The thing is, if this costume had white skin, they would've been called it "whitewashing." There's no appeasing them because their only goal to to be a victim.

Disney makes costume for shirtless character with tattoos for kids to buy: Disney is wrong for allowing kids to preted to be another race.

Disney sells just a leaf skirt as part of the costume: WTF Disney, you cannot have just a plastic skirt for a Halloween costume.

Disney makes no costume: Disney is racist because they make costumes for white characters, but not for characters of color.

This is the MF'n country we live in today. There is zero winning, these companies need to nut the frick up and tell the whiney lil bitches to go suck a nut, and if they don't like the costume then don't buy it. How pathetic is your life that complaining about every little thing and trying to find malice in a kid's costume from a cartoon is the biggest thing you do?

Yet, it's OK these days to allow children to pretend to be the opposite sex.

I am privileged to be a white boy who doesn't need to buy a costume to be accused of being a racist. How about that?

I wish corporations would just stop stooping to their levels and tell them to frick off. If only a few corporations nutted up and did that, these frickers would stop getting the attention they crave.

Stuff like this makes me want to make sure I dress up for Halloween as either Pocahontas, a geisha, or a mexican salsa dancer just to see how many get pissed off at my costume.

I really despise what the world has come to.

Catering to bogus claims..

There is nothing racist about a costume of a character like this.

quote:

It was wrong to sell a costume that allowed children to pretend to be another race, she said.

No, Actually it's not. I don't care if another race wants to dress up as a character of my race.. nor should they. This crap is so ridiculous. Dave Chappelle and others have done white face, and it's completely fine.

It's gonna crush my son when I tell him he can't be the Avengers' Black Panther for Halloween this year.

I wish someone could explain to me how this is supposed to work?

We want multicultural/diversity. But we don't want anyone to like or adopt or identify with any of the stuff from other cultures. We just want them to see it. But ignore it even if they like it. But talk about it, in a real conversation. But not a conversation we have to listen to as well as talk. That isn't real. It is only real if we do all the talking.

And we want leaders we can identify with, but not ones that try to be like us or act like us because that's wrong. If you aren't us, don't act like us. But you can't lead us if you aren't identifiable to us. But don't be like us, or try to adopt any of our good stuff. But don't be like the not-us people either, cuz they are bad.

Unless of course you want to appropriate gender roles. Then it's cool. And we need to encourage people to do that. But not while wearing an outfit that a person of another skin tone might wear. Or eat any food not originated by your specific people.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

If someone wants to wear that outfit, that means they accept Polynesians and have no ill feelings for them.

Now this woman says kids can't accept her child's race by imitating them.

Which means Polynesians must be kept separately and not included in the rest of society.

They may as well be on an isolated island in the middle of the ocean. Oh, wait.....
