I am in no way defending the front office, but Spiller has been out there for a week and he is just getting his first visit. Maybe he really is done.

Teams have their rosters set already. He would take a couple of weeks to get acclimated with the offense. He likely will not be signed unless there are injuries that required a replacement RB.

If i was CJ i'd hang out for a while and wait for a playoff caliber team's RB to get injured

The Chargers lost Woodhead Sunday and signed McCluster Tuesday. Seems like that would have been a decent fit considering his skill set and he wasn't even an afterthought.

The knock on him was grasping the offensive playbook. Do you think GBs is any less complex?

Ken Whisenhunt is the OC for the Chargers and he coached McCluster in Tennessee. Probably the reason they brought McCluster in, familiarity.

I think the real issue is signing a player that was still injured to more money than Ingram.

McCluster is a lot closer to Woodhead than Spiller is. I know we all really saw Spiller taking the "scat-back" role here that guys like Reggie and Sproles played before, but that really hasn't been Spiller's MO in his career.

He is super athletic but he's never really been a short yardage pass catching type.

Where does this story come from? That can't be the real story right? There's no way

We barely used him. Its not like he was a failure. He didn't even really get the chance this season now that he's healthy.

Payton hinted at Spiller having another possible scope on his knee during the off-season. I guess he didn't think Spiller would benefit them by holding on to another injured player.
