Yep, it's a new defense for everyone.

Concerned anytime a freshman is forced to start because of poor position recruiting.

I personally feel more comfortable having an a natural LB playing the other Buck role. Bower and Key are both natural DEs

Coaches clearly think he is a better fit at OLB than Tashawn Bower

I think this is a common misconception. I think they want Bower to sub in for Key on the strong side so that we always have our best OLB on the strong side and force them to run to the week side of the field! Just my opinion, bring on the down votes if you disagree!

I think he's gonna be an impact player from day 1. He's already up to 240 pounds , will be a freshman all American . Book it

Yeah its terrible what happened to Thompson (again) but it seemed like Divinity was the guy the staff liked there from the get go?

I could be wrong

We'll be in nickel more times than not, so Divinity being penciled in as a starter is cool and all. However, he'll be first of the field for a nickel DB.

Yea Thompson will be back before the season is over though isn't he ? He could still play a lot of quality ball hopefully ...

Maybe. I'd assume an ILB would make more sense leaving the field in the nickel.

Is he the second coming of Welter? No, already feeling better about it.

Realistically, I see a FR in this defense being attacking (or disruptive if preferred) being able to handle it better than in a more reactive defense on the whole. Which probably makes him more of a liability in coverage. That can be made up for some, hopefully most, of the time. At the LOS, I feel good about it.

He was also an EE if I remember correctly? Working with a new system and coordinator to the team. So compared to normal situations he's potentially not that further behind in scheme than everybody else. Not that's a particular comfort.

That's a good point too , everyone is learning a new system . So I think there's gonna be growing pains all across the board , but I feel like aranda is gonna help these guys adjust quickly. He seems to be a heady played from what I have heard , and moves very well , like beckwith.

That he's pretty good, and we're not very deep at LB.

Tashawn Bower is NOT a good option at OLB

It's not that he isn't a good OLB,. it's that he is a much better fit at 'buck' LB, the position Keys plays, than the other OLB position.

quote:

You can put "OLB" next to his name all you want, but he's still not going to be able to cover Dalvin Cooke or Chubbs.

same could be said for Arden Key. Key and Bower are going to play the Buck OLB. But it looks like Bower didn't work out well as the other side, 'F' OLB(?), position.

Regarding White, I really believe that he ends up as a RB.
If LSU doesn't get Akers then it is almost a certainty.

Some players born to be linebackers have a gift for playing in space. Hopefully this is an indication Divinity is one of those players.
