what were your experiences?
Strangely I have four friends in the last year who have all quit professional positions on the spot. It worked out well for two of them, one is tbd (she quit last week) and the fourth is now a house husband.
But anyway, what have been your experiences? I always assumed it was a terrible idea but it seems to have worked out for people I know.
I have to say that its on my bucket list to just say frick it and walk out.

Yes, but not a professional job.

You can't do these with actual responsibilities.

Did it during a student job at ULL. Dean was a complete count and I just couldn't take it for $5 an hour anymore.
Told my supervisor that the dean was a arrogant piece of work, loud enough for her to hear from her office. Said "the next time I walk in here will be to get my last check, I'm going find another job for the same shite pay without a boss like that."

I had been looking and had 3 interviews set up. I hit my tipping point one day and boom, quit.

Yes. Right out of college. There were only three of us in the office.
My boss would show up to work drunk, smoke about three packs of cigarettes in the office, frick his obese secretary in his office, and occasionally take a break to berate me.

I'm on the verge every day, but trying my best to play passive aggressive instead of blowing up. Wish I had the balls to do it, but I'm trapped in a job that pays just well enough to deal with the misery.

I quit my first job like that.
I worked at a hardware store for three years.
I told my supervisor I needed the weekend off 2 months in advance. She jokingly said I couldn't have it and I wasn't in the mood for her shite...took off my work shirt, tossed it to her and shot deuces.

I was eating lunch at Nicky's in Shreveport last Friday when a loud commotion erupted in the kitchen. It was the bus boy throwing down his rubbermaid tub and dirty dishes.
Young dude says, "frick you! And frick you, Carlos! I've been busting my arse for you mother frickers, I quit!"
He storms out through the packed dining room and it was silent stares. As soon as the door closed behind him, it was like one fork rattled in a plate and everybody carried on like nothing happened.

My biggest fear is going through years of professional school with debt and feeling the same way. I would do it as a busser or cashier, but it can be career suicide to do it on a professional level with a real income.

It's not a terrible idea when you're 18 with no responsibilities.

I walked out of a concessions job at Zephyr Stadium when I was in high school.
I could NEVER work in a kitchen environment again in my life.

Worked at Cane's for a day in college. Pay was shite and I wasn't cheerful enough. I hopped out the drive thru window

I worked for a guy in high school in an office setting. One day he asked me to meet him at his house and to wear work clothes. I get there and he wanted me to mow his yard, weed eat, and clean the pool. He left and went to the office, but locked me out of the house. When it came time to go to the bathroom, I had no other option but to crap in his yard. So I took a dump, then grabbed a shovel out of the shed and buried the crap. I finished the yard and called him and quit. I was supposed to be learning about architecture... not mowing yards.

never with out having another job line up. I worked at Lowe's for most of my college career but by my third year there I hated dealing with the general public. I had already accepted a new job when and I was planning on putting in my two weeks notice the same day when I had to deal with a moron of a manager and just basically walked out and told them to mail me my last check.

Yes, I worked at a vet's office. Someone brought in a crazy dog. Possibly had rabbis. The two girls asked me to put a muzzle on it cause I'm a guy. I quit on the spot.

Yep. Working with heavy steel. A weld broke free during construction and a piece of steel that previously was stationary suddenly was no longer stationary and was aggressively relocating itself. It stopped about three inches from my face.
Instaquit.

Yep, teaching in EBR was basically a prison guard job. My boss told me that the reason kids were fighting was because I wasn't teaching and I didn't like black children. She said she had a stack of resumes on her desk of people who wanted my job. I tossed her the keys and said start interviewing.
It felt fantastic!
