re: don't see what the big deal about no man's sky is

I think I would be happy with the exploration if it wasn't mostly just palette swaps of the same 5-6 things. I would like to see more variety in the plants and trees and more parts available to make up the wildlife. You really do feel like you've seen most of what there is to see after you explore the first couple star systems.
It's a beautiful game and it can be fun exploring to find the best looking vistas for screenshots, but I wish there was more to do on these planets. I'm optimistic that they will create more content for this game over time. It's a good start. I'm sure some people will get 100s of hours out of this game, but I think for most people, it's hard to recommend it for $60 when they could play Abzu and have almost the exact same experience for $20.

First off, I like the game but I will tire of it quickly.
There are so many things missing.
3 things that could save it other than multiplayer.
1) create a resource trading/scarcity situation akin to Privateer or X3.
2) player housing or base building.
3)flying/fighting/owning Capital ships with scout ships to go PlanetSide.
Another game that is a great start, hopefully

What's the usefulness for this in a massive space travel/exploration game?

Played the shite out of it for 2 days, but now I have literally no motivation to go back to it unless they add more.
Feels like an early access game.

This game would have been far better had it involved the MP elements.
It should be like Eve.

For someone who hates the game so much, you sure do spend a lot of time reading, researching, and talking about it.

Lol I find it hilarious how people on this board will talk shite to people who are enjoying a game about said game, just because they didn't like it.
I've played 30+ hours and I'm not putting it down any time soon.
I knew months ago to not expect multiplayer and that I would basically just be able to discover planets. I kept my expectations low and they were met and then some.
The only people who aren't enjoying the game are people who had expectations that were never reasonable to begin with.

That's a stretch.
Sorry Carson for talking shite

A lot of people seem to enjoy it, then get bored quickly. And by quickly, after 2 days or so, done for good or till DLC comes out.

Not really.
But the annoying part for me is people who celebrate that a game is bad (or perceived to be), act smug because they're not playing it, throw it in the face of people who bought it or, heaven forbid, bought it and are actually enjoying it. The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced I'd get bored with it pretty quickly, but some people really like this game, and it's not hard for me to accept that, because apparently a lot of people like Smash Brothers and I never want anything to do with that series again.

the developers are being exposed, dutifully. im glad reddit keeps posting shite about it.
they need to change this meme to "when you ask Hello Games about all the missing features"

They should merge Pokemon Go and No Man's Sky. Two HUGE games without much substance.

If you want a realistic space sim for console/pc with multiplayer, aliens, trading, combat simulation, and landing on planets... buy elite dangerous
bought it last night and it's blowing no mans sky out of the water
patch 2.2 coming 8/18

I've had this for a while, didn't care for it at first but need to give it another shot after all the patches.
