I think beating Alabama in the game of the century fricked Les up. He was able to beat a great team by playing conservative football and playing great defense. Boom. The new recipe. He just out thinks himself sometimes. In his early years at LSU he was much more unpredictable, he's made some head scratching calls that worked in his favor because in reality he knew they would- he had his finger on the pulse of the game and knew that the fake field goal would work, or knew the reverse on 4th down would work. Same thing as Saban calling the onside kick in the title game. Ballsy call but he knew it should work. Since 11/5/11 though, he's been pretty conservative and his head scratching calls don't really appear like a calculated risk with good odds, they seem more like a desperate predictable gamble at times. 2013 is the obvious outlier, but Les knew he couldn't rely on his defense and, let's be honest, throwing the ball to Landry and Beckham with a smart quarterback when teams have to respect Jeremy Hill isn't exactly a risky game plan. I think Les has to adjust his philosophy if he ever wants to win another title, because I think the game has evolved and passed him by. He could very well prove me wrong, sometimes the ball bounces your way over the course of a season and sometimes it doesn't, but it looks to me like everyone knows the plan to beat LSU under the current philosophy.

FWIW I hate your description. I had to click the link to fully understand the quotes.

You couldn't put is not well thought of according to other SEC coaches? Somewhere.

Unless Nick Saban said this, Miles has been more successful than this coach. So id like to ask that coach how it feels having such a limited coach be beter than him.

None of this is news. This is just more "I told you all so" banter from the same posters.

1) There will be a change this year. The offense will change and you guys can get all those pretty WR stats you all want...

2) Les won't change a thing and will get fired.

So bottom line, most everyone here will get what they have been clammoring for, one way or another.

Since 2005, the only SEC team ahead of LSU in terms of games won and winning % is Alabama, a team in the middle of a historic run.

So unless that anon coach was on the Bama staff, they can piss off. Because Miles' ceiling, as it turns out, is higher than pretty much every other ceiling in the league.

Its not about changing the offense, its about executing the offense we have.

Brandon needs to check into and complete short/intermediate passes and we'll be fine.

Cam being on the sideline will help calm him down I think and talk to him about the looks he's saying in a more effective way than via the phone.

I'm a pro-Miles guy but one thing I just don't understand is why the running backs and tight ends haven't been more involved in the passing game. That's always been a huge staple of Cam's offenses: run effectively, don't turn the ball over, and really productive receiving tight ends and running backs.

Since Cam's been here the latter two elements haven't really been featured. I don't subscribe to the notion that Les is overruling Cam all of the time on play calls but why this element of Cam's offenses has just disappeared is really a head scratcher.

Since the objective of LSU football is to win 8 games a year for the entire 21st century, 9 wins a year is perfect.

To be the most stable program in the history of college athletics is quite an accomplishment as no program has ever won 8 games a year for an entire century.

With four guys on the line out and your starting fullback, definitely you cannot play Smash Mouth against Alabama. Nor can you throw the ball with no protection

So how did we get to 13-1 in 2011?

After this year we keep Aranda and bring in Herman. We will reel off about 4 or 5.

This is the only thing I disagree with. If anything, 9 wins is our floor with this offense. I think the reason Les keeps that boring offense is because it essentially guarantees him at least 9 wins with our schedule. Then every couple of years the stars align and we win it all. That is why I don't expect a change.

I'm not saying I agree with him doing it. I just think he knows he can win at least 9 games every year with that style so he won't change. I used to be fine with it. Give us a championship every 4 years and we can deal with the other years that are still better than most. But it gets to a point where you start thinking, how good could we have been.

How does another coach know this? Is this based off a Spring game.. or perhaps it's a former coach speaking? Such as Steele?
