I've enjoyed a few of their beers that I've been able to get in Birmingham. Mainly the Amber and the Everyday Ale. We were down in Point Clear earlier this week, and I took my wife to the Taproom. I had a Causeway IPA, and then I got a flight. I got to pick 5, and went with:
S'Wheat Home
51
Cougar
Beach Day IPA
Amber
Brought home a 4 pack of the Causeway and a 6 pack of the 51.

I've met the owner a couple of times in Bham. Nice guy and they make some good beers. However, Singing River is still my favorite brewery in Alabama.

Balls, if they ever invite you back to Oregon, I want take you drinking just so I can get your politically incorrect take on Portland hipsters in real time...

51 is one of my favorite beers right now.

Really? That's pretty surprising. I think Good People, Fairhope, and Druid City all crush SR pretty easily.

Their lineup is solid. I was there last weekend and came back with some Causeway and Cougar.
They are very nice people.

I could have bought some of everything that I tried, but I was trying not to go broke.

Stopped in for a flight a couple years ago and enjoyed it. One of the owners was working, and he was very nice. I plan to go back next time we're in the area.
We ended up talking to a nice local fellow at the bar, who insisted we drive by his house and check out his Scottish Highland Cattle. So we did.

Fairhope is probably the best town in Alabama.

I can see myself moving down there later in life and retiring there. Convince my kids to go to Troy or South Alabama and we all leave Birmingham. It really is a great mix of a coastal small town and having the benefits of a large city nearby. I just need to get a job at the Grand and convince them to let me and my wife live in a suite full time.

I picked up a 6-pack of Causeway IPA at a Mobile Publix on the way back from a business trip. Combed the bottles for the dates and did not find it. Should have known. Total maltbombs.

I've only had the trim tab ipa but I didn't care for it
I think good people and fairhope are the 2 best but I'm sure I haven't tried every one

Trim Tab makes an old ale that I believe to be the best beer made in AL. I also really like the Rye Brown.

Congrats. I wish y'all the best. The Grand is so fine. I was there last weekend and it was looking good. The grounds/landscaping looked better than they have in years.

Not to derail the thread but Trimtab makes a fantastic raspberry Berliner and I don't think I've had one bad beer from Straight to Ale. Their Laika stouts are "killer" and "to die for"!!

Gnar sent me a couple of barrel aged Laikas and they were great. The cabernet barrel one was freaking great.

That Cab barrel Laika is ridiculously good. I have one that's about two years old. I should probably pop it soon.
