A lot of it is upbringing and new money versus old money, more so than just level of income.

The poor/middle class kid grows up and wants to be rich like all those rich people he's jealous of. The rich kid just wants to fit in and be normal like everyone else. Funny how that works.

If you have money at some point you gotta learn how to act. Don't actively sow jealousy with conspicuous consumption, treat people with respect, spend your wealth on making your family and friends happy instead of yourself.

The wealthier people you talked about are probably almost embarrassed by it. They would never brag. And they're often, oddly penny pinchers. They're the kind that would spend 50k on that luxurious family vacation and then argue about the price of a Coke. The new wealthy upper middle class folks just throw it around like it's nothing and want to make sure everyone knows

You can usually tell the old from the new

Holy shite!?!? Are you a pharmacist? How much are you pulling in per year...100... 105K to scan my Lipitor, Starburst and toilet paper purchases at the local Walgreens?!?!? You are so superior

That was a little harsh, but he asked for it.

What makes me feel better than others has little to do with my income. More to do with my family, my positive contribution to society, and just having common sense.

See a lot of stupidity when out in public. Don't even necessarily think I'm better than anyone, just happy with where I'm at.

Unless you own your own store or were left a chunk you probably didn't deserve, you probably don't make "a lot" of money.

I venture to guess that if you felt a need to ask a forum with tons of students and new graduates if they also felt guilty for being rich, then you were really just trying to tell everyone that you're rich via some deep seated inferiority complex. I'd also guess that you're leveraged to the hilt and won't retire until you're 70 just to show everybody around you that you're rich because you just can't help yourself. You like the part of it where other people envy some of the things you have until you realize that good people could care less about your garish displays and wonder why all your friends' seem to be leaches.

I could be wrong on this but your post reeks of passive aggressive I'm better than you. No comment as to what my wife and I make but we aren't students or recent grads by any means.

Compared with other Americans, I am not rich, but have no debt and a great income for someone under 30.

Compared to the rest of the world, I am filthy rich.

I absolutely do not think any of that makes me "better" than others. I do, however, think that I am in my position because of two generations of good choice-making and sound judgment by my parents and myself. All I ask is that people don't try to vote it away from me.

Honestly I would feel guilty as a pharmacist. Most of the time nurses are writing these Rx's (with doctor stamps) or calling them in. Nurses, with 1/6 your schooling and 1/4 your salary are giving you orders. They tell you the exact medication, dosage, instructions, quantity. All you have to do is exactly what they say. You're basically a pill clerk. When the patient asks for more refills you have to call and talk to the nurse again. You have no authority. The doctor respects the nurse more than you. Your job exists for consumer convenience and to save the doctor time. They made you get a PhD just so the job market wouldn't be flooded with you people. And this is it every single day, taking these orders, you're constantly reminded of how useless and overpaid you are.

My GF is a nurse and she said the doctors treat them like shite. However most of what you said is true. Market is completely oversaturated, pharmacy is be becoming the new law with new shitehole schools opening left and right. The only thing that might save the profession is that the amount of training and bs we do in school to essentially be a "pill clerk", we could easily treat and write scripts for blood pressure and other simple stuff in undserved communities. They are already trying to make it for Nurse practioners to practice without supervision, it won't be long before they expand the pharmacists role

ETA: the doctorate wasn't required for the job market, it was made so schools could start charging some poor college kid $150,000 to be guaranteed a job making 120k right out of school. Now something like 70 schools have opened within the last 10 years

Did not read the thread...

My answer is yes, not because of the silly 'baller' status, but because of financial security. At this point, I can safely say that if I could not work another day either because of disability or death, my family and all of our assets is completely secure.

The kids will have the resources needed to finish school without the burden of student loans. They each have a trust-fund account set up to support them until they can become financially independent.

Hence... it is not about what you can do with the $$, but what the $$ can do for you.

No, and I'm not trying to rub it in other people's faces either. I associate with people from all ends of the spectrum, and we treat each other the same way. It makes you trashy to look down on other people for how much money they have. News flash playa.....lots of people have more money than you

Program Managers are the worst in the tech industry. Most don't have technical degrees but act like they do. Technical peeps dislike these people to the fullest and they're making $180K plus.
