Mahindra? John Deer? Kubota? Assume on has a larger chunk of land. Where is the best place to go to buy tractors in Louisiana? What brand recommended? Assume 4x4 with around 40hp

Outdoor Board will probably get you better answers

Probably, but not quick enough

Impulse buy?
All of them are good. Just find one with the features you need.

What's a good price for a 36hp 4 by 4? Not an impulse, just want to discuss. Can you negotiate prices?

Last minute tractor purchase huh?

Gotta bury something in a hurry

JD 3032 is a good one. Think it's roughly 36-40 hp.
You can negotiate, but tractor dealers don't sell that much in volume so you're not going to get much off. Usually 60 month financing.
You'll probably want some implements too though. They can get spendy
If you want to negotiate, make sure there are multiple dealers and you have good options. I'd bet their margins are less than 20%. Probably closer to 15%

John Deere or Kubota would be my suggestions. Most companies make reliable small tractors. It's up to you to perform the proper maintenance and not hot dog it while on the tractor.
There are a lot of Kubota dealerships in the BR area. I would suggest shopping around, let them know you are shopping around and see where it goes.
Sunshine Equipmemt had a number of dealerships in the area for John Deere.

Kubota. Drive to Normangee tractor in Texas. Largest Kubota dealer in the nation. Their deals are very hard to beat.

Kubota owner here. Very happy with both of my tractors and my UTV. I don't think you'll go wrong with either the Kubotas or JD. Just about all of them should be offering 0% for 48-60 months. I'd guess you'll be in the $20-25K range for a 40HP, depending on what's on it. I'd hit up Star Equipment or Sammy broussards for the Kubota.

It must be 4x4- you will be miserable without it.
It must have front bucket- you will be miserable without it.
Brand is whatever one you want.

We've owned both John Deere and Kubota, and both are good tractors.

Kubota will be the most reliable by a wide margin. Have friends with JD that are always having repair issues.

Better get this moved to the outdoor board before someone tells you that tractors are trashy

Why? Hear this all the time and can't understand it.... For years all anyone used was two wheel drive, a couple of my neighbors still do as well...
