I'm literally feeling ill from knowing it's only one more season. No show has captivated me like this and probably never will.

But I would love for a prequel series doing the history of the GoT world. From the children of the forest, first men, the Doom and rise of the Targaryeans.

I think it would be great. I'm sure this has been mentioned a thousand time but does anyone else agree?

Closest show to me that had this effect was Spartacus but this show is on another level. It really is gonna be painful when it ends.

Not sure about the "painful" stuff but there are plenty of stories to be told from this world. The show has a huge following so there is money to be made.

I wrote this a few years back on a Robert's Rebellion miniseries:

quote:

Episode 1: The Tourney at Harrenhall- Basically the things that happen shortly before Harrenhall, as well as the melee that Robert wins and the dinner where everyone socializes. Also have Cersei's seduction of Jaime to join the Kingsguard in this episode, and end it with Aerys accepting Jaime to the Kingsguard, and immediately sending him back to King's Landing.

Episode 2: The Knight of the Laughing Tree- Start it off with the Knight of the Laughing Tree plot, with Rhaegar meeting Lyanna in the Woods. Add some more scenes in Harrenhall, and end it with Rhaegar winning the tourney and giving Lyanna the blue roses. Also Tywin leaves his post as Hand of the King.

Episode 3: The Wolfs Blood- Brandon vs Littlefinger duel, Lyanna leaves with Rhaegar, Ned and Robert return to the Vale, Littlefinger knocks up Lysa, and Jon Connington is appointed the New Hand.

Episode 4: Waking the Dragon- Brandon arrives in King's Landing and is arrested, Rickard comes down and is burned alive, Aerys sends word to Jon Arryn to send him Ned and Robert's heads. Aerys also rapes his wife. LF is sent back to the Vale and Lysa has a forced abortion.

Episode 5: Raising of the Banners- Ned heads North to rally his bannermen, while Robert heads South to rally his. Lyanna and Rhaegar arrive at the Tower of Joy, marry, and then consummate their marriage.

Episode 6: Summerhall- Robert wins Summerhall, Ned and Jon Arryn marry Catelyn and Lysa Tully respectively. Before leaving, Lyanna tells Rhaegar she is pregnant. Rhaegar then arrives back in King's Landing to get chewed out by his wife. Aerys commands Connington to take out Robert Baratheon.

Episode 7: The Battle of the Bells- Ned and Jon Arryn save Robert from Connington. Rhaegar meets with his father and then marches north to meet Robert after telling Jaime he was going to change some things once he returned. Ser Arthur Dayne returns to Starfall to get a wet nurse for Lyanna. Aerys also begins to rig King's Landing to blow.

Episode 8: The Trident- The infamous battle itself. Aerys will also light another Hand on fire for the hell of it, as well as send his wife and Viserys off to Dragonstone.

Episode 9: Burn Them All- Start with the aftermath of the Trident Ned marches south. Arthur Dayne returns to the Tower of Joy to tell Lyanna of her husband's fate. The Lannisters unexpectedly arrive in King's Landing. Aerys lets them in, and they start sacking the city. Episode ends with Jaime slaying Aerys, his own Lannister men marching in, and Jaime sitting on top of the Iron Throne.

Episode 10: Dragonspawn- Episode starts with Ned and his army coming over the hill and seeing King's Landing being sacked. Elia and her children are then raped and killed by the Mountain. Ned marches into the throne room to see Jaime sitting on the throne. Robert arrives with actual joy at the sight of the destruction of King's Landing, pardons Jaime Lannister when Tywin lays the corpses of the children at his feet. Robert calls them dragonspawn, and Ned out of protest takes his northern troops and march on the Tyrells to the South.

Episode 11: The Onion Knight- Davos enters Storm's End unseen, and gets Stannis his onions, only to have the top of his fingers chopped off for smuggling. Ned comes in to lift the siege. Tywin tells Robert that if Lyanna should die, that he has his daughter Cersei to ensure the union of the realm. Ashara Dayne sends Ned a message about the location of her brother.

Episode 12: The Promise- Robert is crowned, and Jon Arryn becomes his Hand. Stannis lays siege to Dragonstone, and Ned and his Northern Lords come upon the Tower of Joy and fight the Kingsguard located there. Lyanna gives birth to Jon, making Ned promise to not tell Robert and to claim that he is his own bastard. Once she gets her promise from him, Lyanna dies. Simultaneously, Rhaella and Viserys escape, and she gives birth to Dany and also passes.

It's unlikely that next season is the last.

I agree 100%. This show has so many possibilities with detailed history. Surely there will be some type of spinoff. But I would thank it would have to be from Roberts Rebellion back to the true beginning.

I was under the impression that next year is the last. Hope I'm wrong.

I did not know that. Still hope for a Roberts Rebellion based show from before.

It hasn't been confirmed yet but it's very likely that next season will have 7 episodes and season 8 will have 6 episodes.

We are getting a prequel. Rumors are that it will be about Dunk and Egg.

With how much the movie industry milks every penny out of franchises now (ex. all the damn super hero movies) I have truly no doubt in my mind that once the show ends, several other movies will be released that take place in Westoros.

I'd like to see one about Aegon's Conquest, just to see Balerion the Black Dread in action.

I'm not a GoT viewer, but I really hope that HBO ends its involvement with the show after this series ends. They are investing so much money in the show that HBO's product as a whole is very weak. Their budget for everything non-GoT is so low that they can't afford to put out consistent quality programming the way they used to. My $15/month used to go toward great shows, great fights, great documentaries, etc. Now? My $20/month goes toward GoT and a good show here and there.

A Duck and Egg prequel would not cost as much as GoT. A lot few characters and likely no CGI.
