3-4 Years from now could be a block party..

Check out this video, Diallo could end up being a really good starter for us 3-4 years down the road. The guy is a freak athlete, was an undeveloped FRESHMAN last year, and is going/needs to put on 20 more pounds.
My main point though, we could have 2 fantastic rim protectors in the future. Hugeee wing spans between him and Davis. Huge!!
Diallooooo

And they can both defend on the perimeter and run like gazelles in transition. If Diallo develops a 17 footer, he can be a steal. If not, he can still be a good 10-15 mpg game. Relative to where they were taken, I like the Diallo pick better than the Buddy pick. I get why they loved him

I'm assuming he is 6'9" in shoes and needs to gain 20 lbs. I really want to believe, but can he do that and maintain the athleticism that makes him good now? That's my question.

Dude's wingspan is ridiculous. His arms practically drag the floor when he runs up and down the court. The 6'9" is a little misleading when you consider that.

He's only 19 so he definitely needs to get stronger, but the highlights I saw he didn't seem to shy away from contact and appeared to be an eager screener. Give him a few more years to develop grown arse man strength and I think he'll be fine. Maybe you keep an Ajinca around to lean on the really big bigs for 30 games a year, but the rest of the time a smaller guy like Diallo should be fine as the "starting" center.

If anything, it seems like it helps him. People are going to try to shoot on him more than they would if he were taller, not realizing his arms are crazy long. Thats what leads to the blocks

He's doesn't always know what he's doing out there, but he plays hard. That's something no one can teach.

Diallo is an AD clone on Defense. Nearly the same exact Measurables. 6'9 (6'10 AD) 7'4 Wingspan (7'5.5 AD) 9'1 standing reach (9'0 AD). They both have great timing on there blocks. Imagine two lanky guys like AD on the court at the same time. That's some serious arms.

If we get Taj Gibson like production out of him I will be ecstatic.

Yeah. We really need to stop listing height and start listing floor to finger lengths.

That wingspan has me thinking he may grow a little taller like AD in his first two years in league. Adding an inch or so would be nice.
Eta: it's not the height that concerns me, it's having to strap another 20 lbs on that frame and retain his athleticism and motor.

Look I'm all for being excited about incoming players, but most of the time those second round guys end up taking so long to develop. I remember being excited about Jeff Withey. I thought he was going to be good for us.

Yeah, now he is busy being good for Utah. Lets not make that mistake twice.

Pretend he went 3 picks earlier in the 1st rd
This isn't just pelican fans blowing smoke. Multiple pundits have said its a great pick and a few have said he was a possible top 10 pick next year

Standing reach >> Height. His frame gets you needed reach vertically AND horizontally.

The combine measures standing reach.

If Diallo is 6'9 2020 then Davis is 7' 260.

MM said that after the draft expectations for the 2nd round pick would rise to almost unrealistic levels relative to the average 2nd rounder...

Which is okay. The question is if the Pels will be patient.
Win now pressure doesn't just affect the GM, it also hits the coaching staff. No coach will give a young guy a long leash if he has to make the playoffs to keep his job
Moving up to draft Diallo signifies they just might be willing to be patient and play the long game with him
ETA- just read the post above mine.....
