I know the U of Texes coach had just as many national titles and more wins overall (I believe).
Who is considered the best college baseball coach of all times?

Auggie made Cal State Fullerton what it is, and did a hell of a job at Texas. Skip and Auggie are 1.A and 1.B .

It would be difficult to leave Rod Dedeaux out of consideration.....

Raoul Martial "Rod" Dedeaux (February 17, 1914 – January 5, 2006) was an American college baseball coach who compiled what is widely recognized as among the greatest records of any coach in the sport's amateur history.
Dedeaux was the head baseball coach at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles for 45 seasons, and retired at age 72 in 1986. His teams won 11 national titles (College World Series), including a record five straight (1970–1974), and 28 conference championships. Dedeaux was named Coach of the Year six times by the Collegiate Baseball Coaches Association and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1970. He was named "Coach of the Century" by Collegiate Baseball magazine, and was one of the ten initial inductees to the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

That isn't really a question that can be answered accurately. Each generation has a top coach that not only won a bunch but showed the way for everyone else.
Dedeaux was probably the first. Before him, college baseball was something nobody paid attention to at any school. He showed how to take that first big step.
Fraser, Bertman and Garrido stood on his shoulders and demonstrated how to turn college baseball into something profitable, and draw in fans.
They all built something to which today's coaches owe their livelihoods.

Skip Bertman and it's not close

Skip is certainly in the top 5. As an AD, he was one of the worst. As soon as he got the AD job, he ran off Pat Henry.....the greatest collegiate coach of any sport!!

Skip dude and it's not even close in my opinion. Auggie was a head coach for 47 years and Skip was only 17 years. Dedeaux from USC had a hell of a dynasty in the 70's but even he coached there for 45 years. So Skip it is

Outside of La, no. He's on Mt Rushmore but not the best.

There are many factors at play here. Dedeaux deserves credit for his accomplishments but he did it in era when college baseball was not mainstream.
ESPN slowly started bringing the spotlight to college baseball in 1980. Bertman came to LSU in 1984 and from my memory MSU was the bell cow of the SEC at that time. Skip not only built LSU into a national power but was instrumental in making the SEC a national power.
It's hard to believe that Goergia won the first SEC NC in 1990! Since then the SEC has won 10 of the last 25(Lsu 6 times).
To answer your question, Skip doesn't have the best resume when talking about career numbers, but he dominated the sport during the era when college baseball became mainstream.

Rod did it when the competition and sport in general didn't reall compare to what it is today. Now everyone is invested in their program from the tiny college in Florida to the big name schools in each state. It's a different game. Augie had success had two school similar to Horton who I think is one of the best as well. I'd still put Skip at 1 or 2 though.
