Joe Alleva took on the massive job of redoing Tiger Stadium.
He got it built well, built on time, and within budget.
Joe Alleva is going nowhere.
Get used to it.

we need a serious group of folks to sit on that body. Big checking accounts and a corresponding ego is not sufficient.
I guess rantards with at least 20K posts would qualify.

You all need to watch that 30 for 30 Duke LAX scandal and you will know all you need to about this weasel.
I watched it. He was mentioned about one time. As far as cancelling the season and firing the coach is concerned, I'm not sure there was much else Alleva could do about it.
The real facts of the case didn't come out until well after those decisions were made. And to his credit, the university tried to ride out the storm, but it just took on a life of it's own.
That DA was hellbent on prosecuting that case to the point that he hid all evidence that excluded the accused, and was later disbarred.

Yeah Alleva was like the 600th scummiest person involved in the Duke fiasco.

They didn't "announce" it now. It's been in effect for a year, and nobody really knew. The advocate inquired about it, and LSU answered.
What I think happened was the journalist had one conversation about a policy that had been in effect for over a year. They explained their reasoning, which included the caveat that they are still looking into a way to make it work.
Add in a little bit of journalistic magic, and poof, you have articles days apart, one suggesting this decision was just made, and the other suggesting that they immediately did a 180 on the decision.

wow, where is this topic coming from? We usually wait till football season to start bitching about the AD?
The real culprit in the Miles fiasco is FKA. JA was the scapegoat. I dont think anyone fully appreciates what a complete POS Alexander is. When Miles disappoints again this season (inevitable IMO), everyone will blame JA for not firing him.
Well, except for the apologists. They will defend the Hat until they die for some reason.

You Soooo miss the point.....it is NOT the Band situation.
Its his inability to make decisions.
When you guys leave school and get real jobs in the real world....you become familiar with identifying leadership skills and leaders. There are traits involved in this equation.
Alleva is woefully lacking !!!!!

F. King has been a much bigger embarrassment to LSU. He needs to go first. Other than football season ticket renewals, I'm withholding all donations to LSU until they get rid of F King and get their act together.

I'm willing to bet that outside of ticket renewals, you weren't going to give anyways. I'll bet you're one of those people who want O'Keefe back. The guy that gutted half of the departments on campus and still didn't make any progress in dealing with the LSU budget.

I don't have a candidate in mind, but I, for one, have a deep appreciation for FKA as an invertebrate.
He is exactly the type of "leader" that a university does NOT need in a fiscal crisis.
For those eager to jump Alleva, sorry, I cannot agree. Yet. It is impossible for me to make a judgment because I think his hands are tied by FKA, to whom he answers.

Pretty much this. He could have DEFINITELY handled the PR better during the Les fiasco, but beyond that I honestly don't know the extent of his power when it comes to these big time coaching decisions in the current state of the politics/economy/budget in Louisiana. All signs point to F King fricking everything up, but who really knows?

Examples of dishonesty?
1. Visiting bands can't perform because of a safety concern...
There is no safety concern. Aleva originally told Auburn (last year) they could not perform because of a musical act scheduled to perform with the Tiger Band. When that musical act cancelled, the reason suddenly became "safety."
2. Joe's spokesperson (Eddie Nunez) stated that the rest of the SEC had safety concerns like LSU. The SEC office (Herb Vincent) has now stated this is NOT true.
3. Joe's spokesperson (Eddie Nunez) stated that the Tiger Band only travels to "neutral sites with the whole band. Last year, the whole Tiger Band traveled and performed at halftime in Starkville for the LSU vs Miss State game.
I could go on and on and on and on............

Good point. The AD is hired to make athletics decisions and should be allowed to do so. Sort of like an owner in football telling a GM what to do. However, I think firing les miles would have been far worse for us than retaining him. So I believe that F King Alexander helped us there even if it could have been for selfish purposes. Just because the outcomes are considered good doesn't mean they weren't reached without incompetency. That luck will obviously eventually run out. Joe has passed his point of no return with me but personally there's still more I want to see from Alexander before I call for his head.

Wrong....this came into effect for the Auburn game.....less than a year ago.
Why would you (or anyone) try to defend this?
