Ever temper a couple of eggs into your grits? Pretty good!
At the Lodge store in Pittsburg TN. I picked up a bag of grits taht are really good. Smokey Mountain Milling white grits.

Salt and butter with some grape jelly on the side. Fig preserves work really well with grits as well.

I put salt and lots of hot sauce if I'm doctoring up grits somebody has put in front of me. Cheese and stuff if I'm making my own. But I've seen people all over the south put sugar in thier grits. I think I probably did it some as a kid. Crazy so many people have never seen or heard of it. Y'all SLA people need to get out more ...

ETA: Never added only sugar in grits. I like cheese in my grits as an adult.

i ate grits and eggs all while growing up. no sugar. grits, fried egg or 2, butter, salt and pepper.
