Jealousy is a weakness and trust is a strength. So if your SO trusts you and is not jealous that is a sign of strength. However being bored and tired is not good. If your SO needs a change and is just trying to play it off like it will be a good thing, look out.

I wish we could ban a person from making threads by board consensus.

In like 1 percent of relationships that try it, it works.

Most are the result of someone not understanding they want a divorce.

It's a sign that the relationship is already over. The ink may not be dry on the divorce, but it's over.

Neither necessarily. It's a sign of different values.

An open marriage is a marriage that is built far too much on sex and is highly likely to fail because it needs more to be stable. I've known of only one open marriage that's lasted and it was reeeeeally open (guy would yank it in the corner while watching his wife rolling around with other guys and gals).

It works for them somehow but they are by far the exception.

If men could get laid (by a woman) just as fast as a woman could get laid by a man; then open relationships may work.

Of course, this is the OT where all men have to do is fart and 124 OT 10's are on there way.

OK, but do you trust your wife enough to let her know you think other women are hot? And she thinks other dudes are and says it in front of you?

Watch porn together or she knows you do?

Talk about sex and what you like or don't like in the bedroom? (not every once in a while either, but often)

Do you like or mind that other men hit on your wife or checking out her assets?

If you answer no to any other these, then you have trust issues and probably already divorced or have a shitty marriage.

Call it what you want but the few married couples I know that have tried open relationships or threesomes have crumbled badly. IMO it only works with older wealthy dude with younger wife and its as much of a financial arrangement as it is a marriage.

The fact is that over 50% of the time monogamous relationships don't work. If your wife wants strange D, she's going to get it regardless of whether or not you "approve" of it. Same goes for any man that wants strange. An open relationship allows both spouses to have that experience but most people are waaaaaay too insecure to go there. This is one of the reasons the divorce rate is so high. People, especially men, think that they lock the pussy in for themselves only when they put a ring on it and based on most marriage vows that's the way it should be. Unfortunately people often make promises they don't keep.
